27328, Difference btwn SMIC and nothing

I really didn't notice much in the butt dyno after putting on my SMIC from a 1g. The EGT'S came down a little, but not a whole lot. The pipe to the intake is not really cool, but not really hot either. Would it matter which way the IC is hooked up (intake and turbo, reversed)? I know by Chilton's which way is which, so I'm pretty sure that I got it right. Would insulating the DP and turbo help enough to really notice a difference? I have to fool with some small things like a hesitation problem, but the car runs well. I guess the whole project was less than 50 bucks so, I really can't beat that.

I guess it's the pressure drop that's making you feel less, even though you are blowing in colder air. Try to up the boost to compensate.

adding a good intercooler will bring down the temp a bit.. this allows you to turn up the boost from 5-6psi to 7-9psi max depending on your setup. wrapin the dp etc will help...

Well i just did some airflow mods to my 1g side mount, becuause it was getting way too heat soaked on long drives. The way the IC is mounted, the air going through that opening in the bumper would only really cool part of the IC. So i took out my empty fog light housing cut some of it out to open it up a bit. Then I cut out some of that black plastic behind it to let the air through. I then used some aluminum roof flashing to make some air channels. I put them on the top of the IC, and on the sides to help force all the air into the IC. When i did my datalogging yesterday and was on the highway, my IC and outlet pipes were cold! Even intown driving and boosting, they were still cool. The inlet pipe was pretty hot, but the outlet was cool. I would check to be sure you have sufficient air flow over the IC.

never occured to me to try that. I have the WW front and I left out the mesh for now, but I might build like a sheetmetal "box" to channel air. Is it cool for me to send some pics of teh set-up to you and maybe give some input?
