As some of you may know, I've been having some problems or difficulties, shall we say, after the rebuild. Engine get's very hot and I know I'm not the only one with this problem. But what puzzles me is my new static fuel pressure after this rebuild. I get code 51, which is lean fuel mixture, if my static fuel pressure gets under 60. I now have to keep it above 60. Before the rebuild HRC suggests fuel pressure to be 50-55. Even before, if it was below 50 I wouldn't get CEL 51. Now everytime the fuel pressure guage drops below 60, that CEL comes on. Am I the only one with this problem? And someone please tell me that it's normal for the engine to sound sluggish and drive sluggish at times right after the rebuild. I've only put on 223 miles since then, because I don't drive it around much, fearing that it will shut down on me again. The engine only sounds sluggish at idle and sometimes the rpm guage drops below 800.

Hmm..thats strange..you have stock injectors right? I have stock injects, and my static pressure(0 HG's on boost gauge), is at 55 psi. Full vacum (20+ hg's) is around 45 psi, and i have never gotten a code. Maybe your o2 is bad? A bad injector? No sluggishness or bogs at all with my current pressures..

anybody else wanna tackle this?

You need to get about 400-500 miles and I bet a lot of the problems will clear up. I hit 1000 miles the other day and mine is dricing fine and runs good except for the high egt temps.

Start checking some of the basics like 02 sensors first. Your codes comes from the 02 readings.

I went to autozone today and have them do the test for me. Remember how I said the engine sounds sluggish sometimes,well it sounded more like one or more of the cylinder isn't firing at idle. The autozone guy did the test and got a D171 or something like that. He says it's a lean fuel mixture in bank 1, which he said was cylinder 1. Can I use fuel injection cleaner to take care of this or is it possible that the harness to it may be loose? Also my new battery runs lows after driving it a while. When I disconnected the negative from the battery, the car shuts off. But when I leave the car running and the battery connected, the voltage goes back up. Some one help...please...it's my only car and I need it to start work this week.

Code P0171 is o2 bank 1- as in, the o2 sensor in your downpipe before your cat. It does not mean cyl #1- there are no sensors to detect fuel mixture PER cylinder, just before and after the Cat.

I've had a manager of Autozone swear up and down he didn't sell a "compression tester" until I finally noticed it on the wall behind him. ;)

Also,
Static FP (50-60psi stock injectors)- is pressure at 0psi boost & 0psi vacuum (usually about 5-10 mph)
Idle FP (47-55psi stock)- pressure at idle, out of gear, stopped.

Sorry I don't have any good ideas how to fix it tho. Mess with your fuel pressures both up and down, make sure you don't have any kinks in your fuel line, clogs in fuel filter, and both pumps are working? Spark plugs gapped right? Vacuum lines all hooked up right?

possibility it could be o2 sensor? I'm not getting correct reading at WOT, keep getting negative numbers sometime. Anyone know what kind of fuel injector cleaner to use?
