26920, Where exactly should I tap the OIL RETURN LINE? Posted by RxR_Eclipse, Jul-20-02 12:59 PM
Where should this go? And should I replace my oil pan gasket? Napa sold me the wrong one already once so It would take like a week to get a new one.

I have mine tapped right in the middle of the "fat" part of the front of the oil pan. It's about half way up so when it's running it should be above the oil level. It is welded in and I have had no problems or leaks w/ that placement. My gasket was still like new when I took it off. The only reason I replaced it is because I had a new one. When I swap motors I will reuse it though. It's rubber and metal not a cheap paper gasket so it should still be in good shape.

Yeah, my gasket was in like new condition when i did my turbo install, but i had a new one handy just in case. Either way, its only like 30 bucks or so from the dodge dealer..dont go to mitsu, more expensive for some reason.

Get some gasket sealer too. Theres a section on the block that goes from steel to aluminum (I guess) where you apply a dab of sealer.

When I install my turbo kit from star performance I'm going to redo the oil return line. I Just don't like how they did it with a steel pipe and a rubber hose. I'm going to add brass fitings like you see in drag cars or nascar. Stainless steel braided lines look good and move with the engine.
