After I got done racing those 2 LS-1's, I happened to look down at my temp gauge and it was 3/4 of the way up! My temp NEVER goes above half, so I knew something was up. My car started to make a funny noise too, which I believe is the alternator belt. It's a chirpping noise coming from near the alternator, so I think my belt came loose some how racing those fools. Anyway, I parked the car and let it coll for about 20min. and went about my way. I drove it VERY easy, never saw boost or anything above 3500rpm. About 5 min. of driving and my temp gauge blasted back up again! This scared the shit out of me, do you think it could be my thermostat? Car is running fine, it just keeps overheating :( What else could it be, I figure it's just the thermostat. What do you guys think? And if it is the thermo, where should I get a new one at and how much do they run for our cars? Thanks guys.....

I have been having the same problem but it only goes up a little at idle. It was worse untill I changed the thermostat yesterday. Now it only gets hot if I really am hard on the car when its like 99 dfegrees during the day time. I think most of this is just due to such hot weather we have been having lately. I am going to flush the radiator tomorrow and see if it helps. Get the THermostat at the dealer. I paid $8 for it there.

might want to check/replace your radiator cap.. it could lead to something like that...

If it gets worse before it gets better, i'd say #4.

If he's having probs with the alternator belt, isn't that the same belt that drives the water pump??

Timing belt drives the water pump....lets hope its not #4 ok :) I took out my thermostat and dropped it in some boiling water that was 220 degrees, and it only cracked open an 1/8". So I think thats the culprit...I'll keep you guys updated.
