26863, What causes code 171? (too lean in cylinder 1) Posted by Lee, Jul-19-02 02:42 AM
Everything looks good, fuel pressure, egts, a/f. So what could cause this?

How did you get that code? I've neve rheard of that before - our car's monitoring system has no way of knowing if a particular cylinder is lean - only that a lean condition exists.
I think you read that code wrong..

Huh? Lots of people have gotten that... it's P0171 to be more specific. And also.. it's BANK #1, not cylinder #1. :)
Possible causes: Fuel system, Excessive fuel press (This is why I and several others with HRC kits get it, check your FPR), Low fuel press (check your FPR again, hehe), Vapor recovery system blocked, PCV system blocked, Dipstick out, Stuck or broken EGR, engine oil overfill, exhaust leak before O2 sensor (check your manifold with soap water on a cold start), bad compression (unlikely).

Sweet, so it's not really a big deal. I know I have an exhaust leak b4 the o2 sensor.
