26804, why do you guys get turbo
Posted by dvatt2424, Jul-18-02 02:02 AM
i am not criticizing i want turbo also. that is a question i get from a lot of people. they tell me my engine will go bad and so forth what does everyone think. i plan on getting a howell bottem end and top end kit to build my engine up. when the turbo goes in ill probably have like 30,000 miles on my 99 gs.

Anyone who tells you that "your engine will go bad" "it won't last around the block" "turbos are bad for the motor" is an idiot. With the right tuning, a stock motor under boost will last just as long as a stock motor.

Why do major car manufacturers still design and make cars with turbos if they are so bad? Whoever you are talking to needs to get their head out of their ass. Just like Dino said, right tuning and TLC to parts, most WILL outlive NA engines.

Well another side to why go turbo would be why not just sell your 2gnt and get a gst or gsx? The price looks about the same as getting a turbo kit, if not cheaper. That's what I'm still considering at least.

well if you are looking at a 2g turbo car, you run the risk of getting a motor with crankwalk. and most like the previous owner did not turbo time the car. and compare the insurance rates between a non turbo eclipse and a turbo eclipse

a lot of the 4G63 guys say, sell ur car, or wait and get another one. I just say, for the $$$ I have already spent, it's not worth it. I don't want a good looking slow car, or a stock looking fast car. I want a show car that has power. For the cost of buying a sroker, or regular build kit, and a turbo kit, the price is nowhere near the price of a new car plus mods to make it as fast as I want. And to look good too. They are just usually saying that b/c they are jealous b/c they know you can have a fast car too without having the original cost of the turbo car.

i want a turbo to answer my own question bc of the spooling bov sound the and rush of stepping on the peddle every once in a while

I get that alot too. What's funny they come from civic people. Any motor that u turbo even stock ones tend to have some problmes, but like dino said with the right tlc and tunning you'll be stright. THe reason they are say this is because a lot of people go out and just buy a turbo kit, without doing anything else. They run to lean then boom. no more engine. maybe they said it cuss it's mopar motor. I don't know whatever reason just point them our way we have a few 12 sec cars here driving daily. I got your weak motor right here.
