Damn, that set-up looks cheap as hell to build!

How much power did they get out of it?

How much boost does that turbo max out at?

That is Wheatking, the ASOG president, old turbo setup on his Sebring
to fit the 14B like this you have to remove one radiator fan
and the air conditionning compressor but ditching the O2 housing
for a custom O2 housing eliminator could probably eliminate those 2
problems
The turbo was only holding by 2 bolts
potential problem: the turbo is very low in the engine bay
I was a passenger on a joy ride in his car once while the car
was in a very early stage ... it can push, and a lot :)

So all those parts are out of a 1 gen turbo. To do that set-up all I would need is the header (cut flange off and weld onto mine), turbo, downpipe, BOV and hoses. Hell I'd prabably be able use the intercooler too.

Then all I need to add is a boost controler, oil/coolant lines, Vortech S-FMU and boost guage. correct me if I'm wrong or missing something.

Doesn't the 14B and the 16G/S16G us the same header flange?

Someone tell me if this is a good idea because for a guy on a budget this makes boosting easy.

Wahoo, I love boost :P

I have a shop that has a mendral pipe bender.

Question is- SMIC,FMIC or should I use a air to water underhood intercooler with heat exchanger in the fenderwell?

I did it for about $800 CDN.. less if you count the fact that all i really bought was a coople of studs, some bolts, a bit of piping, fuel pump and FPR, and some brass fittings and a 5/16"(?) brake line for the oil feed.. I cut and rewelded the stock downpipe and clamped a 45 degree bend to clear the oil pan and mate to the flex flange. I already had a busted 91AWD talon.. so.. i used the following parts off of it..

Intake tubing, turbo, wastegate, , BOV w/pipe, SMIC, and oil drain pipe (cut in half.. piece of tubing goin from the turbo to the pan.. made the flange bolt to the pan by installing a threaded plate on the inside.)

I was tempted to use the 4g63 air can too cause i had a K&N filter.. but i didn't..

Looks remarkably stock though.. if you didn't know better you'd swear it came from the factory that way.

Cheap way to go.. makes good power.. and parts are easy to find if you gotta replace em.

Only thing I'm worried about is fuel delivery. My car is a 96 so I have a returnless fuel system.

I want to get a Vortech FMU and relocat everything into the engine bay. I don't have Cruise Control so I want to mount it there.

Anyone do this yet? Just so if I run into a problem I have someone to help me out.

Oh, and should I just go for the front mount or use the 1gen sidemount?

Bump. Anyone try doing this fuel set-up on a 96?

I just need to know I'll have someone to help me out if I get stuck.

Could I buy fuel lines from pep-boys or something to run a return line?

Anyone?

I originally had fuel hose for the return line but it was kinking and made my fuel pressure insanely high (80psi idle) so I replaced it w/ aluminum line from Jegs. Works great.

How hard was it to remove your stock FPR and install your new set-up?

How long did it take?

this also applies to me because i have a 96 that im going turbo with very shortly. now i thought it would be a good idea to set up my fuel system before i install the turbo and all that. from what ive heard before, this is doable right? i have accell #30 injectors and a vortech sfmu. ill worry about riggin up a walbro fuel pump later on cause i think ill be arlgithw ith just the injectors and sfmu for a while. any input on all this is appreciated, tia.

What I PERSONALLY did (which some might disagree) is I removed the whole fuel filter/regulator assembly and replaced it w/ a new line. Just unbolt the hard lines coming into and out of the fuel filter. Then unbolt the filter assy and remove it. The feed line has a banjo bolts so I CAREFULLY removed that line from the pump assembly. Then I ran a new fuel line from the pump assembly to the hard feed line under the car. There is an inline canister filter also since I removed the stock one.

For the return line I had aluminum fuel line and I used a flare tool to flare the end then connected it to the SFMU w/ a flare accepting -6 AN fitting. I ran the aluminum line back along the stock lines and zip tied it to them. Then ran a short rubber fuel hose from the pump assembly to the hard line that I ran as close to the pump as possible. I have some crappy pics from back there that may help but I don't know. If anything is unclear ask me again and I'll try better ;)
