26642, questions on fuel
Posted by j0hnnyzer0, Jul-16-02 10:16 AM
greetings all
am writing because i need help/guidance
i haven't been participating in this forum because i spend most
of my time doing school work/working on shows
i have a 97 rs that i turbo-ed (star) about a year ago
unfortunately i haven't been able to drive it- it lived in tx and i in
new york
either way- i am building the bottom end this coming week
(JE/Crower)
the concern i have about fuel comes from reading threads and from the few experiences that i have had boosting (7psi)
...on a few occasions, mostly in the top of 3rd and early 4th, the car bogs down, i get scared and let off
as i've got close to 80k on the car, i figured that it might be time to replace some injectors...the problem is that i can't afford an
AFC just yet
...would like to be able to boost 10psi, but am not sure if it is possible with 310's and my Vortech 12:1 FMU
...have read theads where people say that they have replaced the plate with another (4:1/8:1/etc...), but i don't know hot to go about finding them- let alone perform the calculations necessary to make a decision on what i would need
...please help
another question- i am experiencing extreme BOV flutter, and no matter what i do, it does not seem to go away...could it be because i have really shitty piping (i'm replacing it) or is it just a fouled BOV ?

eeeek!

I can't answer all your questions but. . .

What's your fuel pressure at 7psi? If it's bogging down, I'd think you were rich not lean.

You can run 10 psi with 310cc injectors. Not sure about what disk you need with the FMU. But they're pretty easy to change out, just open it up take it out and put the new one in. Check out vortech's site they've got a lot of info on there. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/ also check out Corbin's site he explains how to build a fuel system on there.

Somebody else should be able to shed some more light onto this for us.
