Not advisable to run 7-8 psi without an intercooler. If you do, you'll greatly increase the chance of detontation. Our ecu and engine already has issues--timing advance, weak rings, etc. You shouldn't run more than 4-5 psi without an intercooler. With a minimal to moderate fuel supply, and hotter intake air (thinner, hotter air), you're setting up a lean, air/fuel mixture, which usually results in detonation.
