Posted by Dave_FL, Jul-13-02 11:17 AM
I installed my s-afc today but I didnt do the injectors. First problem is my throttle only goes to 73% when its floored. I even tried pushing the throttle by hand in the engine bay to make sure it wasnt the cable and it satill only got to 73%. What could this be? And also what vlotage are the sensor check's suppose to be at and what are they? Thanks

I remember seeing some fix on the "mods" section of the main site, saying that sometimes our throttles dont open all the way, and it gives a way to fix it. maybe thats the case??? goodluck tuning the SAFC, if you need any help, lemme know, after today im a damn EXPERT at the SAFC on the 420A! :-) spent all day fiddling with a friends to get rid of a bogging spot in the powerband. do youself a favor and be SURE to set the AFC to 6-in 6-OUT in the Etc. Menu.

yah check to make sure your tb opens all the way.. remove the pipe to the tb and have a friend or so step on the gas to the floor (without starting it) and make sure it opens all the way, if not adjust it...

6in and 6 out doesnt work on my car. It almost dies at 6in and 6 out. And my throttle body is opening all the way as far as I know. It cant be pushed open anymore.

6in 6out makes your car die? thats weird man, thats what mine is set at, along with every other 2gnt i have ever saw with a SAFC. but, different cars, different settings. my friend had his set to 7in 7out, and it would cut out for a bit when it hit the hi throttle percentage. goodluck with it man.

to make the throttle read 100%, turn the car to the on position, without starting the motor and push the gas pedal down and hold it there. The throttle on the AFC will start to rise until it hits 100%. It might take a minute or two.

Dave, did you ever get your rough idle figured out? If not, then your timing may still be off!! Maybe if your T-belt timing is off, is why you are having these problems..just a thought..

Actually I am a dummy. I am new to this whole s-afc thing. My car runs fine at 6 in 6 out or 7 in and 7 out. Its just when I tried to put it to 6in 6 out i only did the in and not the out so it started to die and then I put it back to 7 in and 7 out. Wow that was confusing. LOL. And no i havent figured out the idle thing yet. I check my marks on the cam gears and they line up. I coulkdnt get to the other mark on the lower part becuase I cant see down there.

Also, when setting up the S-AFC, try not to set system settings while the car is running. Turn the car off, and then "on" to the accessory power. The only time you should change any settings should be when tuning the fuel curves. Plus, setting the pressure type, 6 in/6 out, etc, will vary a bit from car to car. Usually 6 in/out, and 7 in/out seems to be some common numbers.
