Posted by Irfan, Dec-13-00 06:15 PM
what do i need to do/have done to make my car 'safe enough' for a turbo? i know i cant be completely safe, but id like to be safe to enough to run 7-10psi daily. I dont plan on spending over 5 grand getting it ready. thanks. -Irfan

with 5 grand, you could run 10 PSI all day long no problem. I recomend this. Basically, the biggest thing you need to keep the turbo safe is more fuel. if you don't wanna do rods and pistons, just get some 310 cc injectors, and you should be able to run 10-12 PSI, and not have to worry about electronics. Our ECU's can handle up to 310 cc injectors no problem.

other things to think about getting

adjustable FMU

EGT gauge

boost

modified A/F gauge .. check them out..wyatt has a link on his site

upgraded clutch...ours don't seem to like to hold past about 6-7 lbs. for very long.

hmm..can't think of anything else right now...but there is more for sure...lots to learn about turbo'ing a car.

On the adjustable FMU note.. does anyone know how far those will adjust (ratio wise... ie. 10:1, 12:1)....

Im just curious what the adjustable range on those is !
thanks !

As adjustable as your fuel injectors will go. Meaning that if your fuel injectors/ fuel pump can only pump to 140psi's let's say, that's the amount of maxiumum fuel that the FPR will ratio out according to boost. It's limitless as far as I can tell.
