26017, Come and go fuel/boost cut. Posted by Nitrous_RS1997, Jul-08-02 02:24 PM
my friend has a star stage 2. it has been on his car for about 4 months now and has had zero problems. a few weeks ago, he was going down the road, tried to boost, and he hit fuel cut. he called me, i came to look at it, and he had his VC1 power wire ran to a 10A fuse for power. of course this fuse was blown. for a quick fix then, i put a 25A fuse in its place. car ran and boosted fine then. not too long after though, it started hitting "dead" spots while boosting. its like a quick fuel cut while boosting, the A/F numbers go lean(of course) but the car seems to pull through it and boost fine for a few hundred rpm's, then happens again. sometimes it isnt even a full fuel cut, just(for lack of a better description) a "pulse" in power/boost. he does have a SAFC, but its working fine. car hits .97 on the A/F when boosting. im almost certain its the VC1, or the connection with it. im going to connect it directly to the battery tomorrow and see what that does. if that doesnt do the trick, im installing a Missing Link on it to rule out the VC1. any experiances or opinions are welcomed as usual.

Missing link is the way to go

well, moved the power wire for the VC-1 to the battery. it doesnt do it as often now, but its still doing it. guess we will try the missing link when it finally arrives. it that doesnt cure it, guess we will try a new MAP. any other ideas?

Interesting. My car does a similar thing while cruising on the highway. The o2's will go lean (0.0v) and the car feels like it would if the timing were being pulled hard. It will stay that way for a couple of seconds and then begin to cycle/feel normal. This is not under boost and a steady throttle. I wonder if I should check my voltage clamp???? What was the link for the missing link again?

its on www.group5motorsport.com. its under the Synapse engineering link on their site, or under forced induction. if yours is doing it out of boost, i wouldnt think its the fuel cut defencer...it should only work in boost. might possibly be your MAP sensor though.

It feels better at 7/8 throttle than at full
