Hi,
I am currently in need of some help from the knowlegdable forum browsers. I plan on turbo charging my talon, while I am on my license suspention (so i wont have down time when i get them back) Anyways I was wondering what the cheapest way to turbo my car would be? I was thinking about getting the exhuast manifold and just slapping on a rebuilt stock mitsu turbo or similair turbo on it. I also have a bud that will sell me his front mount intercooler for 75 bucks. i figure i can get the turbo 20 bucks from a friend and a manifold pretty cheap... stick that on, run all the nessicary tubing (intake, downpipe, everything) etc. and fire it up and enjoy some boostin. This sounds very easy....so am i missing a important item to my plan? And if i just run it at a low pressure will my fuel system be good enough providing that i use the highest octane at the pumps?
Thank you!
P.S. : When i get my turbo installed whether it be frankensteined' or kit purchased...how much boost should i have to have a very very very very very blow off valve, and whats the loudest blow of valve on the market? Also, is there any tips/tricks to make the Blow off sound even louder? Thank you!

The cheapest way is buying a kit especially if yo can get one used. In the end you will pay more doing it on your own. It is a huge headache. Just get a kit and you'll be fine. There are many many many parts that are necesary for a turbo kit. Its not as easy as you think. You just cant slap a turbo on a car and make it run right. This has been asked many times before. Check out the thinghs we have seen before section and I am sure you will find some valuable information.

That's not true! It's cheaper and it's fun! ;)

A kit is probably the best route for you to go. I think I just looked at a used kit in the sale section for like $1200 or so.

TurboXS makes a really loud blow off valve. The RFL model (stands for really fucking loud).

It has been said before, and I will say it again. If you have to ask these questions you may not be the right person to build a custom turbo kit. Most people that build a custom kit just show up one day with a kit installed. We are here to help, but to tell you the truth, everyone gets tired of answering the same questions. Search the archives and the internet. A turbo kit is a turbo kit, weather it is on a crx or a talon. They work in the same way. Most things that apply to a turbo civic will apply to your car as well. Check out www.howthingswork.com, this site can tell you how your engine works and how a turbo works. Good luck.

ive had to say this to one individual on here about a half a dozen times and im still not sure if he understood, but here ya go: SPEND WEEKS READING EVERY THREAD IN THE ACTIVE AND ARCHIVES OF THE "TURBO" CONFERENCE, THEN COME ASK QUESTIONS AND CHAT WITH US ABOUT BUILDING A CUSTOM KIT. i like helpin people out with the use of my limited turbo knowledge whenver i can, but after i spent all those countless hours reaeding, it only seems fair. and if you REALLY want to put a custom kit on your car, reading the stuff for endless hours shouldnt be very hard. oh and for the record, yeah we aleady know that the search function blows goats.
