i finally got all the bugs worked out in my star atge 1 kit, but i am a little disapointed. its not as fast as i thought it would be. everyone keeps talkin bout how it should press u back in ur seat and stuff, but im just not feelin it. i have the stock exhaust still but i dont know...anything maybe i forgot to do? like gap the plugs....do i need to regap for turbo? if so what gap size? (right now there at .040). tia.

mine are gapped to .28, the stock plugs becase i couldn't find any colder that would fit my car. check u're fuel pressure, it it's off it will affect performance, have any boost leaks maybe? one time my charge pipe fell off, that was interesting...

i have no fuel pressure gauge, so im not sure how much im running at, but when i push it a little i notice that inside the car i smell gas, its really noticeable, i wasnt sure if that was supposed to happen or not. i didnt try gapping the plugs yet either but i will right now ;) any other suggestions? also what should my air fuel ratio gauge be reading (corbins gauge) at idle/wot/right after releasing throttle? tia.

Re-gap your plugs, bored out cat and change your exhuast. The difference is night and day.

As far as your fuel pressures go, it seems to me that you are running a bit on the rich side if you are smelling gas inside the car. Try tuning with your fuel pressure a bit a keep your eye on your A/F gauge. Lean it down so you are seeing .93-.94V on the meter at WOT. This is the only time that the A/F gauge reads correctly. At partial throttle it will just cycle numbers. Fuel tuning plays a BIG part in performance gains....if it's not in tune you are losing power, plain and simple.

i got the star kit so i have the vortech fmu. how do i adjust the fuel pressure to lean it out?

Get a Vortech SFMU. The beauty of the HRC kit is its adjustable regulator that comes with the kit. The ugly thing is that the regulator is a piece of shit!!!

well same prob here. read my post about how my friend with a civic and cai can hang with me. Before I could toast his ass with my CAI and exhaust. some things i have to play with... im running a stage 2 kit. from what Dino has told me , we cant adjust our fuel... so all we can do is give it more air,,... get a boost controller and increase it by a pound or 2. We run really rich, and that hurts performance. 2 look for any laks exhaust or boost. uhm cant remember what point i was going to attempt to make on 3 ss good luck to you and me both on making this work. the power is there, youl feel it uphill and such, its at wot that you cant tell much of a diff due to the rich fuel problem. lets talk sometime on aim i go by
razorsharkusa long story... or e-mail me or use msn messenger my e mail is la_pmp@hotmail.com I get the feeling we are going to be going through the same things and we are after teh same goal as everyone here.. to go faster and get there faster.

be careful, if you can smell raw fuel you might have a leak, but you probably wouldof seen that on u're driveway by now.

thanx guys, im not sure wat im going to do about the fuel pressure. maybe get a new disk? and i go by spicymitsu on aim. ;)

Well when i installed my stage 1 HRC kit, i wasnt completly blown away at the power or anything. Yes, it was much faster, but dont expect to be pushed back like a motha with only 5 psi non IC'd. Of course, my FPR was fucked when i installed my kit, so..:) Now my fuel pressures are better(still way rich), and i have the side mount IC, and running between 7 and 8 PSI. Now THAT feels damn good. BIG difference from the 5 psi non IC'd. Like said above, if you can smell raw fuel, then i'd bet there is a leak somewhere. If you are running really rich, at wot, you should notice a lot of black smoke coming out the exaust, if not, then your not horribly rich, at least not enough to make you loose lots of power. Get your self an A/F guage or monitor your o2 sensor voltage with a voltmeter at wot, to see where you are at. An EGT gauge might be helpful too. If you are using the FMU that came with the kit, you *should* have the proper disk/spring already in there. No need to adjust anything..

well i have corbins a/f gauge, and i checked around for fuel leaks, but i found nothing. i have an egt gauge and the vortech fmu with the 12:1 disk i believe. also there is no black smoke coming out of my exhaust, so i guess im not running as rich as i thought. any other ideas?

Ideas...not advice ;)

- NGK brand BKR7E plugs gapped .028
- Check wires (swap/borrow newer/better ones)
- Compression check?
- Exhaust manifold leak? Soap bubbles test.
- Boost leak? Check all elbows, pressure test!
- Bad BOV?
- O2 voltage at WOT .88-.92 (youre probably around .94-.98)
- EGT temp at WOT, full boost 1450-1550
- Running 92 octane?
- Try fuel system cleaner?

I had a HRC S.2, but I only ran 5-6psi (stupid stock exhaust)... it was damn fast. You should be able to beat on Mustangs and Integras all day long.
