25614, 10.5 with turbo Posted by 99Silver1100, Jul-01-02 09:32 AM
Right now im at a fork in the road. I was planing on getting a direct port kit for my car and running a 100-125 shot, but for that much money I should just get a turbo. I allready rebuilt my bottem end with 10.5 compression. If I do get a turbo will I have any problems with the high compression? What do you guys think?

10.6 compression/10 lbs of boost for 10K miles after 40K miles of nitrous=50K miles on engine. Just starion intercooler, denso plugs and pistons. Went everywhere in it Baltimore-MD, Durham-NC, Atlanta-GA and drove it hard. Now the rest of the car is wore out but not the engine. Hell it even went a few months with 10.6, no intercooler and 6psi until I got the starion.

For higher boost situations (over 12-15 psi) is definitely an area where you'd want to proceed with a lot of caution. I believe Kiku had that same amount of CR and close to the same in boost when his detonated, and his JE pistons are now a memory. You might want to have some feedback from him (he's a really knowledgable guy). If anything, he might be able to offer some advice.
I know it can be done, but I wouldn't advise a novice booster to do it. Not when you only gain about 4% more power per full point of CR.

a compression of 10,5/1 and turbo will work? i think you must reduce compression to going with boost, or what must he make to keep that setup ? and how much power will he get with that boost/compression ratio? any sides for me?
