Ok heres the thing. Im running the Star Stage 2 and my gauge reads 5 psi. My friend has a 97 civic auto. Im a gs so im auto too. I was driving down the street when he decides to floor it so I do too. Here are the results. From a rollI can take him as soon as I hit 3rd gear ( i see why you guys love it ) , but before that he keeps up. From a dead stop I can only beat him If I get the Launch, he keeps right on my tail. Is it suppose to be like this? I beat him before when all I had was a CAI and my exhaust. something not right here? or should I turn up the boost? I really dont want to since I want to re-build first, but im guessing the 3k wasnt worth it... cheer me up guys, I need to prove to my friends that it IS faster.

you should be killing him.....he may be doing osmething fishy (mods you dont know of)

You should be smokin him. You are stage 2 so you should be safe turning up the boost to 8psi and still be safe. If you have a front mount you should be fine at 8psi and prolly even with a sidemount. Correct me guys if im wrong but turn up the boost a bit and race him again. :thumbsup

Check your meters. What do they say? Are you running rich/lean? I'd investigate before I'd turn up the boost. Something may be incorrectly installed, such as fuel components. The map may also be seeing boost. In which case, boost is your enemy.

ok going from the top... No its only a CAI , I should know because he doesnt know a thing about cars , just the basics and I helped him install the CAI. Uhm, nesxt post , yeah I am running VERY RICH , I assume thats how it is suppose to be with the 12:1 disk. All the gauges read ok. My egts are under 700 c and the boost is pegged at 5, and oil is correct. As for the map sensor, some of you might remeber that I was having problems with this. Well after replacing the vc-2 it worked perfectly , the maps goen, pops up once in a while , but its gone. How do I turn up the boost? and any other tips or ideas are welcomed. This is just dissapointing. To think I was about to race an RSX-s before that, I would have got burned, al he has is an AEM intake, and can chirp his tires in 3rd.

Well if you are running very rich, then there goes some good power. Get your fuel pressures straightened out, and go from there. Also, unless you have an intercooler, dont turn up the boost. In order to turn up the boost, you will need some sort of boost controller, manual or electric.

how do I adjust the fuel pressure if im using the fmu that came with the star kit, I thought those you had to buy a new disk for them. As for the intercooler, yes I have a front mount. Isnt the stage 2 adjustable from 5-8 or something like that? where do I mess with that?

sorry , I was out of town again. Ok its the star stage 2 so I reach 5psi at anywhere from 3k-3.7k depends on how im driving it and such. I usually shift at around 6.5k since thats when it does it for its self. Uhm, anything else you need to know?

I agree with checking your fuel pressure.. I dont know about the star fuel setup, but I would imagine that if you bought it as a stage 2, then you have the disks for stage 2 and the higher fuel pressure?

I was about even with a neon before the turbo, and then after the hrc turbo, I was still even.. after adjusting the fuel pressure, I now completely blow it away.. You'll still be essentially stock acceleration until you hit boost, which if you dont hit until 3,3.7k rpms, is what hurts you big time from a stop.. in our autos isnt 3.7k around 20-25mph?

try brakeing and giving it gas.. it helps a little.. also I would check and be sure you dont have ANY exhaust leaks at all..

Lets face it unless he's spending the majority of the race 3000rpm and below he should be spankin that ass, there's not that much richness is the world to have a auto civic with a CAI keep up to 5lbs of even poorly tuned intercooled boost.

Im sure something is wrong with your setup, somewhere within the fuel. On a side note, I'd say The STAR kit and Autmotic Tranny's dont mix well....no low end...long spool..

well something is "wrong" , he does hang with me . As for the star kit, yes its a long spool, but its better than no turbo and unless anyone wants to trade me for a hahn kit im stuck with it. its not that bad really great for highway battling.
