24926, Needed: Tranny! Help me out guys

Well, my tranny is shot. Some of you already know... bummer. I just installed a Quaife and a new clutch masters stage 4 clutch, flushed and filled with new mopar nv-t350 tranny fluid, and 700 miles later... its gone. Here's what i figure... The previous owner installed a senslessforce dual friction clutch right before her sold me the car, i believe he used the wrong tranny fluid when he filled it back up, so I drove on it for 1.5 years, pulled the tranny, installed the new stuff, filled with the RIGHT fluid, and it didnt like it and decided to make me pay, once again, i tell you this car has an attitude. The mechanic said the 4th gear roller bearing is destroyed, welded to the input shaft. He said the thinks the fluid broke down, lack of lubrication siezed the bearing.all the gears on the input shaft are free spinning, the syncros are locked in place.. the shift fork moves the syncro ring and locks the gear to the shaft. thats why the car was pulling forward, because it was in gear (dino gave me that info).

Well, I need to fix this thing so hopefully I can get to the shootout this year. I need a tranny with a cracked bellhousing with the parts in good shape, that has used the correct fluid in it, haha... or smoething to that sort, main thing is cheap cause I have been out of work for a few months now... My case is fine so I wouldnt need a good case, just need whats inside basically. I know I can find one on car-part.com, but i would rather see if there are any 2gnt'ers willing to lend a hand first. Plus we all know more about cars than people at a junk yard, haha.

I will be on my way to Florida tomorrow, so hopefully I will be able to check the list and email at a mall or somewhere.

TIA

See if you can find a SOHC Neon tranny.. use the guts out of that instead. You end up with taller gearing out of it, which could be a benefit for you.

I was thinking of that, but armond was saying he thought the slave cylinder was located in a different place. Would that work out if I was using my bellhousing?

Brad, come and get my spare (pieces). I have one tranny with bad guts, and another with a bad case. Hit me up, we'll work something out.

Kyle: I will be heading to Panama City Beach, and Destin. Today's my b-day, we are leaving tonight, I am in the midst of packing right now.

I went by the tranny shop today, and he showed me the dissassembled tranny, and the gear welded to the shaft... Soon as he saw that, he stoped working on it and called me and told me to get a used tranny...

Greg: We are leaving tonight heading down 65S through KY, we are leaving at 2a.m., so i dont want to stop on the way down, but I might be able to stop on the way back and check your tranny out. I would just need the tranny with the cracked case i suppose, then the tranny guy can just put your guts in my case... What's the deal with it? was that part of what happened with the wrecked 420a? let me know cause i would love to help you and me both out.

The tranny is out of a 95 that sheared the diff pin, and destroyed the bellhousing. There were enough holes in the bellhousing that I really don't think anything other that the diff needs to be replaced internally.

BTW, I'm north of you not south (Florence/Cincy). Hit me up when you get back so we can get you rolling again.

I am at the Panama City Beach Public Library using their CPU's. I am having a great time, almost forgot about my tranny troubles until I thought to check the 2gnt site... bummer, haha, back to reality. Greg, when I get back next Tuseday the 2nd of July, I will get your contact information so I can come over and check out the tranny. Thanks for the help, I hope it will work out ok, i guess i just need some or all of the interal stuff but maby dino or armond could help shed some light on it?

Are you driving or flying? Do you cut through Atlanta? If you do you should give Armond a call and stop by.

As for tranny - my tranny DOES have the 3.55 gears from a junkyard SOHC neon tranny. works fine. The longer gearing makes a lot more sense when you are making a lot of torque as it helps with wheelspin which means even though you will technically have slower acceleration, it is still quicker to gained traction.

I went 65S to 331 to 98 (front beach rd) getting there, same way back... Armond said it was a few hrs out of the way and we just didnt have the time or patience, bummer, but driving thAt far with your significant other isnt always just peachy... haha... we had a god damn 2002 pontiac sunfire rental car... raced people on the way to and fro, but its a bitch having a 110mph fuel cut... damn fuggers... it wasnt speed races as much as who was crazy enough to corner that fast through traffic.

BTW, greg, you got mail.

Brad, contact me and I can give you the full hookup on how to do the 'trans-mogrification' of building a taller geared transaxle...

I would like that info as well. I know more than one person here has done it, but if you'd send it my way as well it would be appreciated
