24850, all u reliability junkies, don't be afraid... Posted by Eclipze97, Jun-18-02 06:10 PM
I just wanted to let everyone know and for people like me to speak up. I've been turboed for 14,000 miles now and have not had one single problem with the car. Maintenance and how u drive are key. My car buddy told me the day my turbo was installed, that it is key that u don't go crazy with the car. Now i am beginning to believe him, if ur gonna drive her at WOT around town, go ahead, but just afterwards give her time to cool down, don't consistently push full boost. The turbo is always there, true, but u need to be patient and use it only when u want to. I've never seen my egt gauge over 800*C for over 30 seconds cuz i really don't wanna rebuild, but I still have ran the car to it's limits several, several times and have had a blast while doing it. My spark plugs from the turbo install are still in the car and look gray all over. Just be mindful that u have the control of whether your car blows 5k miles after or 20k miles after the install. (I must say this is not true for all cars tho, they are all different but for the most part, i believe how u drive is a major role, this is considering everything was installed correctly.) ---just trying to give advice because i know we all love our cars as much as i love mine and i hate hearing about ppl blowin their stock internals.

ive been boosted for about 6000 miles now and not a single problem. i believe as well that if you are good to your car it will be good in return. i treat my turbo like ready to use nitrous. i drive normally and hardly ever boost unless i just want to.

hehe, been boosted since November (~10K turbo miles), and NEVER take it easy ;)
i bought a turbo b/c i wanted power ALL the time, so i use the power ALL the time, lol. just always keepin an eye on that egt and a/f. i run overly rich, but ild rather error towards the side of safety, even tho i know theres a LOT more power to be tuned out of her
like tonight, i live like 2-3 blocks from work, but i was still beating the hell out of it, cause i pulled along side a viper and just wanted to see the guy romp on it (and he did for a lil bit, hehe :) ). i also find myself turning my 5 minute commute home into a 20-30 minute joy rides, just cause 5 min aint enough time ;)
