2474, :-) Sneaky Question - Fastest 420A Eclipses? Posted by RS_Guy, Mar-08-01 09:13 AM
LAST EDITED ON 08-Mar-01 AT 03:27 PM (PST)I know I am asking a rather shameless question, but I have to know something....
Someone brought this to my attention the other day....
Am I really the 2nd Fastest 420A Eclipse????????? (With actual Dragstrip Timeslips & No NOS)
I was looking at http://times.dsm.org ....BTW my time hasn't been added there yet, takes a while I guess...
If so, Yipee!!!!!
Come on, I know that I am not that modified... - Who else drag races their car? What are your times? -
And:
Should we have our own Times List & Mods Lists n Photos (I don't mind hosting it if no one else wants to..)?

LAST EDITED ON 08-Mar-01 AT 03:29 PM (PST)I haven't heard of anyone running lower that that except HRC. You very well might be.
-DarkOne I'm so bad, i should be in detention.

2476, very close... Posted by JasonESi_T, Mar-08-01 11:25 AM
It's very close beween you and the person who calls themselves "Tigermthd" on this board. He also has a 13.9...
I of course know this all just between a lot of posters here. That's b/c I've heard of a lot of other times of 420a's who don't post here.
Times that are MUCH LOWER.... :-)

LAST EDITED ON 08-Mar-01 AT 07:40 PM (PST)Thats precisely what I wanted to hear...I worded it to make people wanna go out and WHOOP My ass!
I know VERY well that I am probably one of the LESSER modded turbo'd 420A cars.
I honestly think that not enough of you guys actually "test" your mods out (Remember a word called R E S P E C T???).
Oh and for all that think that one time at the track will be enough.. then think again! Drag racing is not terribly complicated (i.e. just about anyone can drag race) but actually very few people can drive their cars to their maximum potential. Me Included my 105mph e.t.s indicate Mid to low 13s...
I would really not be very surprised if most of you started off in the 14s and 15s the first time out (regradless of your setup)! My first time Turbo'd I netted a best of 15.0 @7psi !!!!
Oh and for all those "faster" 420A what are you waiting for????? Post your times on http://times.dsm.org !!!!! Let the world know!

Well,
My current situation makes it slightly detrimental to be able to get any real track time for a while. Hopefully in may I can get some good time in. Regardless, back in may of 99 at Moroso my no drag racing not knowing how to launch ass ran a 14.5@97mph with a 2.4 60' at 10psi on 17x8 24lb wheels with my clutch slipping. I ripped a motor mount and a a rubber pipe too so I was not able to make any more runs that day. I made only two passes. Since then, well, I have not really spent time at the track. This was on stock internals btw.

Yes, post away at DSM.org! All they ask is that you provide a copy of the timeslip for verification.
And feel free to add a URL to your posting (of course, I am thinking Hahn RaceCraft would be a good one, but it's just an idea...;)...
Here's a bit of fun: which car is the fastest FWD 2G? And what type of powerplant does it have?

2480, RE: very close... Posted by RS_Guy, Mar-09-01 05:50 AM
Hehe, no kidding!
I never realized that!
For anyone else that migh be wondering, the world's fastest FWD 2nd Gen Car runs an 11.718 ;-) and is 420A powered... Way to go HRC!

Sorry to dissapoint you guys, but i know a guy here in the bay area with a 2nd gen. GST which ran a 10.8.. (FWD).. This was the white gst on the cover of turbo magazine, it actually made it to the cover twice with two different times first time was something about mid-11's and the second time was in the high-10's.
No worries, we've just started !

2482, RE: very close... Posted by HRC, Mar-16-01 10:57 PM
Where is he? Lemme at him!
Frankly, I was also aware of this fast 2G FWD w/4G63 you refer to. Even though his times are not on the official DSM.org page, it is safe to say that 'eclipsing' his numbers is a personal goal.
Now let's see: nitrous bottle here, larger intercooler over there, sheetmetal intake here, some big 'n' sticky slickies under there....nah, I ain't taking out my AC, I'll just go on a diet.....

There is Jason Lu and he ran 10s at least a yr. ago in a 2G 4G63 no NOS. The car has been featured in Turbo mag several times and SCC back when it was just getting started. I know his times arent on the dsm.org times page but his times have been in Turbo several times including the first top 10 fastest DSMs issue. I posted it when someone asked in the General forum but nobody paid it any attention since its not on the "official page". Just something to shoot for. BTW its the white 2G with custom aluminum shrouding around the engine, combat body kit and at the time volk rims (I cant be the only one who's seen the car. it shows alot too).

2486, I wanna take a stab at this question... Posted by Skrilla, Mar-17-01 12:55 PM
I think it's to showcase the power and speed of the 420a in everyday driving situations in normal comfort:) I'd like to run 11's all day long with A/C and other creature comforts

Yeah, you definitely need practice. Getting a 15.5 my first time out at the track really makes me wanna go back. I'd like to replace my rear blown shocks first though. We shot video of me running and when I shift into second my frickin muffler almost hits the ground. I think with some more practice and some new suspension pieces I can definitely take a good bit outta my et's. C'mon guys, lets all go to the track =o)
