2453, Turbos Guys... Posted by Skrilla, Mar-08-01 05:31 AM
After receiveing HRC's information about their BB S turbos so I was thinking of changing my budget plan. For about 2 or 3 months I would run my stroked engine and Super Cylinder head then change the HG, dump compression a couple of points to about 8 to 8.5:1 (low CR but I will be stroked) and use an S20G with a T25 in front(oh yeah!). I want 550HP@THE_WHEELS and run high 10's or 11's all day long with more low end grunt that a Viper.
So the question of the day is what is everyone's goals?
HRC do you guys have any plans for your 500HP RS?

Grant it, I haven't even installed my turbo, but I'll be happy with around 350HP @ the wheels. (As long as this is my daily driver.)

2455, Goals... Posted by DarkOne, Mar-08-01 07:19 AM
My atcual goal isn't a track time or a HP level, i simply want to be able to floor it and feel myself sink back in my seat. I want to be able to run fifth gear like it's first. I just want it to be faster than it is, without going into bankrupcy getting there. My Stage 2 is a damn good start, and next on my list are the 440's and SAFC, then i should be able to destroy my motor at will, as soon as i have the money for the rebuild. My ultimate goal: i wanna out run Bill's RS and my friend Rob's SS Camaro :-)
-DarkOne I'm so bad, i should be in detention.

Goal 1: Just up and running with 6lbs of intercooled boost and my 10.6 compression. Add MSD DIS2 with timing retard
Goal 2: Completetly change the fuel system by adding an in-line pump, adjustable regulator. AFC and bigger injectors. Turn up the boost to 9-10lb range and plumb in the nitous with 50hp shot.
Goal 3: install my other head with stock compression and basically raising boost until either the capabilities of my fuel system and tuning are maxxed out or my rods let loose. From there skies the limit.

my goals: bottom end : knife edged crank, JE pistons, Crower Rods, Howell UDP and Fidanza flywheel. All of this completely balanced as an assembly to 9000 RPMS.
top: P&P head, stainless valves, 5 angle valve job, Real nice springs and rockers, and turbo cams from crane. Want to be able to rev till 8500 RPMS.
intake: sheet metal intake manifold with 8 injector bosses and largest throttle body possible mounted on it. 2.5" intercooler piping from IC to throttle body, larger intercooler, 2.25 from turbo to IC.
exhaust: 3" turbo back, equal length runner tubular manifold.
fuel system: 4-400cc injectors and 4 660cc injectors, 100 shot of nitrous just to make things silly
ECU: Haltech E6K...already on it's way...should be the first with full engine management on a 420A :)
turbo: better quality t3/t4 . something with some ball bearings. :)
clucth: one that isn't a piece of shit...still looking
transmission: Quaiffe LSD, some stronger axles.
interior: Brent Rau's interior. that looks mad nice.
hmmm....basically i don't think this thing is gonna be much of a street car when i am done with it..if it ever gets that far...but i am sure it will...we'll see...should be a fun project

2458, RE: Turbos Guys... Posted by DSMRoadster, Mar-08-01 06:02 PM
Oooo Oooo my turn.
1)Star Stage 1 E-trim with all the standard stuff
2)Intercooler and upgrade to custom 3inch exhaust piping.
3)JE pistion w/ rings, Crower rods, AFX UDP, 440cc and S-AFC, Greddy boost controller, and Greddy turbo timer.
Basically since this is my daily driver and only driver, the most I'll ever want to run is 12psi or 260-300 at the wheels. Don't plan to go over 300hp at the wheels, unless I hit my head or start trippin on need4speed (sounds like a drug huh?) I just want to play it safe. Anybody have any suggestions on this set up or any set up that will suit me? Thanks.

2459, Thanx for the replies everyone... Posted by Skrilla, Mar-09-01 05:25 AM
I noticed a lot of you guys want the 440cc's maybe 'cause or idle. I don't really care, if it's lumpy - oh well! I want some 550cc's to start with them tune form there and get as close as possible.
Jason and Stan you guys seem to be outrageous, eventually.

Actually I'm thinking more along the lines of 330cc injectors. I really dont plan on boosting past 12psi and if I use nitrous its independent of injector size as long as the fuel pressure can be maintained (and the only reason I'm gonna use two pumps). I still need to do some calculations and decide if I want to get a SuperFMU or just get a regular FMU with a lower ratio.
