2450, is my battery dead?
Posted by 95ESi, Mar-07-01 05:14 AM
Can anyone explain this? Yesterday I was testing for leaks with my two monster pumps out by rigging it directly to the battery (via the fuel pump rewire) and after 10 secs the pumps stopped working and my cd changer resetted as if I had disconnected and reconnected the battery...I thought I had shorted out something or that my pumps had fried.

So when I tried to start the car, there wasn't enough juice for the battery to even crank the starter. :(

But the thing was, I was able drive home a few hours earlier!

Do batteries die like that all of a sudden?

Anyhow, what's a good battery to get?

If you fry the battery (actually the cells themselves) you lose cranking amps but still are able to turn on your stereo lights etc. but the starter clicks, is that what you're getting, if so then it's DEAD, Cranking amps can't be recharged, and wil need a new batt.

Well, when I have my pumps plugged in, I turn the key to "on" and everything quickly dies...and after awhile it comes back but the voltage reads low.

When I have the pumps unplugged, I turn the key and everything slowly dies though...

In either case, when I try to crank, everything shuts off.

I haven't tried jump starting my car yet though...

What I'm wondering is how did I kill my battery or if I'm shorting somewhere? I didn't blow any fuses at all.
