24320, Howell price....best? Posted by ourformerselves, Jun-10-02 04:10 PM
In under 6 weeks I'll be purchasing da HRC Stage 1. Does anyone know if Howell's price is the best price out there ($2195)? If it is, how much is it total w/ shipping?
Thanks, Richard (97 ESi) http://www.ourformerselves.com/richard/main.htm

Hey check in the general 2gnt forum, there is another kit that you might be interested in.

Yea, I might look into that. It says that their Stage 1 produces 193.4 HP @ The Wheels. Is that more than Hahn's Stage 1 @ The Wheels?
It appears that the only difference between the Stage 1 kits for NER is the turbo. What's the difference between these?
1A) Turbonetics T3 Turbo 1B) Turbonetics T3/T4 B-Trim Turbo 1C) Turbonetics T3/T4 E-Trim Turbo 1D) Turbonetics T3/T4 E-Trim Ball Bearing Turbo
A, B, & C are all basically the same price.. but D is $500 more.
edit: Also, will the T3 or T3/T4 take longer to recieve full boost?

t3,t3/4 will take a bit longer then the bb $500 more as far as reaching full boost etc.. i forgot the specs but with a bb turbo you will receive full boost quicker... do a search if you wish to find out more about the kits...

the kits from howell come tax free (unless you are from their state) and shipping is free b/c it is over 1000 (???) bux. ive heard that this is one of the best prices for the hrc, but you may have to wait longer. and yes.. check out the NERs! hehe..

I got mine from Howell, 2195 shipped to my door. As far as spool up time goes, a bigger turbo requires more 'exhaust energy' to spin the turbine. My friend has a Star Stage 2 kit and he is AT, I don't really feel his turbo spool up until around 4K. He was only running 4 psi at the time though. But when 4K passes, that shit really pulls. My HRC kit spool starts around 2500-3000 RPM. I'm pretty sure I hit full boost around 3500 @ 4-5 psi. I'm AT too by the way. I'm sure with a 5-speed, it might be a tad different story.

If your ordering the kit from Howell, try and put it on a credit card 4-5 weeks before you plan to get the kit, cause it will take awhile to get to you, and your bill wont come for a month on your credit card so it will work out purdie good.

the t3/t4 turbo reaches full spooling at a high rpm than the one in HRC's kit. The bb t3/t4 spools up quicker then the basic t3/t4 thats why its more $. So is NER selling thier kits now or just getting the word out? Also super20g your car is sweet.

the BB turbo is crap the extra couple hundred bux you pay for it isn't worth the difference in performance. The t3/t4 is just a huge ass turbo full boost will usually hit at 4k. That's waht my car is doing right now but my engine is worn the hell out :P I remember when it was still kickin it would boost fast though like on cold days start boosting at 2k. I still don't say its worth it...

Yeah the last sport compact car had a good article on turbos and said that the bb turbos spool up about 500 rpms faster so you are paying an extra $1 per rpm which maybe worth it to some but prolly not for me. NER turbo woohoo. MMMMMLayaway!!! :thumbsup
