Hmm. I took a stab at the calculations for this.
<warning> Boring Math Stuff Ahead
I didn't find a conversion between lbs of thrust and what it would be in metric, but I did find a site that listed the following numbers:
9,900 lbs thrust = 44 kN (kilo Newtons) 7,000 lbs thrust = 31 kN
Thus 190 lbs thrust = .84 kN = 840 N Assuming this is for each motor, the total thrust is 2520 N.
Newton's 2nd law says Force = Mass * Acceleration. Solving for A, we get A = F / M
The cars listed weight is 2100 lbs. Call it a metric tonne, or 1000 kg. Thus the acceleration of the car is:
2520 N / 1000 kg = 2.52 meters per second squared
To compare this to a regular car, lets assume you can have roughly constant acceleration from 0 to 60mph.
To calculate acceleration given the time, final and initial velocity:
a = (v - v0) / t
For a 0-60 time of 5 seconds: - initial velocity is 0 - final velocity is 60 mph * 0.447 = 26.82 m/s
a = 26.82 m/s / 5 s = 5.36 m / sq s
So, the 5 second car accelerates at a bit over half a gee (9.8 m / sq s), while this jet car moves at about a quarter gee. Doesn't sound too exiting to me.
Guess thats why they use honkin big military turbines like 16,000 lb thrust J79s in jet drag cars...

Good numbers though. I'd have guessed it might not have been as fast as a heavilly supercharged MR2, but i'd've never guessed it was that much slower..
