24179, Bought a used kit... Posted by run4cvr, Jun-09-02 07:14 AM
I just bought a used HRC stage 2 w/FMIC. The turbine housing, and the exhaust manifold have been powdercoated silver. The kit came with the following gauges: a/f, boost, fuel and oil pressure, egt, all of them made by Autometer, and bezels to mount them with. It has been on the guys car since November, and he is returning his car back to stock. So i will be asking quite a few questions here in the next couple of weeks to prepare for the install.

Good deal man, i just installed a used stage 1 kit, so its all still fresh in the head :) Its really not that hard to do, just be prepared before the install like i was. Took 3 of us about 7-8 hours to put it in, but since you will have to do the FMIC, add several more hours to the install time. Misc things you might need: Oil sender socket, wire, solder/iron, zip ties, 5 quarts new oil, new spark plugs, small amount of antifreeze, wd-40, breaker bar, all kinds of sockets, extensions, open end wrenches, jack, jack stands, elect tape, hacksaw for stock DP, drill bits for oil pan drain fitting, beer, time, and some friends :) You may also need to pick up some new fuel line, depending on the condition of the used ones, and i would get some new metal clamps for the fuel and IC piping lines.I took my car to an exaust shop to have them loosen up the cat conv bolts so they wouldn't give me any probs. It was good i did this, cause they were really rusted on there. After they did that, i just used a socket wrench and it came right off. Much less headache that way..Get a new gasket too that goes between the DP and the cat,and a new exaust mani gasket.. I think thats it, any more q's just ask. Oh yeah, you will love it :thumbsup
