24052, Dual Side Mount Intercoolers ?
Posted by Joshua97478, Jun-08-02 02:17 AM
Yes, i know it would be cheaper to have a single FMIC, but is anyone aware of a dsm'er with dual side mounts? I was just curious. Any benefit over running a single larger front mount?

What you mean in series? Where are you going to find room for 2?

Instead of having one large intercooler in front of the radiator, i was thinking of two smaller SMIC mounted to either side. What are the pros/cons of such a system. I already know that it would probably be more expensive than a single front mount.

Well, you would increase your chances of boost leaks. Maybe a drop in pressure? Would look cool though. :)

Well you'd have to run a Y pipe from the compressor outlet then back into a Y before the TB. I think clearing the A/C and stuff may be an issue also. Wouldn't that cause a lot more lag also???

It wouldnt look cooler. You dont see the side mounts.

...definitely pressure drop

You'll probably see a 3+ psi pressure drop, more places for boost leak to happen, more time and money to get the two sidemounts fitted and mounted. It's a good idea, but I think it'll probably be more trouble than it's worth.
