I would have about 6K around when going turbo. 3k to get it running right, and another 3k for misc parts and rebuild.

He is getting the star stage 1, so the fmu that comes with it is good. It is the standard vortech one. there really isn't any need to upgrade it yet. justin

The (S)uper-FMU is basically the adjustable version of the FMU (which is the one you'll get with your Star kit). Like previously stated, the FMU will be fine for now. However, I would get the EGT.

Well $500+ for a cat-back is crazy... more like $250-350. And 3k for a rebuild is crazy too IMO. After all, it's only a stage 1!
I say stage 1 and an EGT gauge and 2.5" cat-back. That's all you need. $6000 for that? LOL

Yeah, 500 for a catback is crazy, unless your wanting a name brand... I'd just have a shop weld you together some mandrel bends... I had my downpipe made, 3'' mandrel bent stainless steel finish, with a 3'' flex section, and it eliminated the cat, for about 200 bucks. I was really happy with the power increase over the nasty old stage 2 downpipe that was about a foot long and connected into stock piping to a gutted cat. God was I happy as hell. So I went back the next day and had him mandrel bend a 4'' catback, it goes under the rear crossmember, which some of the aftermarket ones have still have that nasty bend. It was 180 bucks, and worth every penny, the turbo spools wildly faster now over the old exhaust with a greddy catback. You of course shouldnt get a 4'' catback, but i'm just saying i think custom is the way to go, for the buck, and for the power.
edit: btw, when you order your kit, tell them you want to subtract the downpipe if you want, so you can have a better one custom made... it'll help you out in the long run.

yea i disagree with 6k. ha i didnt have any money laying around when i turbo'ed my car. i bout the kit, and put it on. you dont NEED a egt or af guage right away. but i suggest very soon. and an af guage is very helpful also. luckliy my kit came with my muff and piping(but not cat-back). jes extends for about a foot. and btw s-fmu means "super fuel manegment unit". sure all that on the list would be things you will sooner or later need but not RIGHT away. i have supported my car with 2 paychehcs a month. :( at least its running and has not givin me prob. YET good luck
