Well a couple things i have noticed i fudged up.....
first: I suppose i should have read Wyatt's directions before i installed my turbo. Well a few things were missing from the kit like worm clamps for all the ic piping and all (no big deal), so i went to the local auto part store and picked up all the ones i needed. Well then i get down to the gaskets. Well i noticed there were a couple missing so I made some! DON'T MAKE EM! (the ones i made are going from the exhaust manifold to turbo and from turbo to down pipe) well they went out. Exhaust leaks arn't fun to deal with.
second: Well when installing my map override control, I noticed it says to hook the power wire up to the ignition, well i couldn't readly find the ignition wire in the engine bay so i hooked it up to something that i thought would only have power while the ignition was on. My engineering ass messed up. I hooked it up to the power window fuse under the hood in the fuse box, well i guess that control doesn't like to have power to it all the time cause that unit is fried! It smells really really bad. However, i am still concerned that the power window fuse has power to it all the time, i thought those would only work if the key was in the car (for i have an RS). Well i was wrong.
Well to wind this up, i noticed that the problem with jerkyness i have was with the map sensor by-pass, because when the car would hesitate, the air/fuel would go all the way into the furthest lean bar it could. It almost felt like it would misfire, but only under boost.
Well guys who are installing your turbo's soon just wanted to give you a couple notes for your project: If the gasket isn't in the box, it is probibly not needed, and make sure your MAP by-pass isn't on a constant power source.

it was posted a few days ago. i have replaced my vc-1 with it ad have had no problems. it works great. best of all, no wires :)

gaskets are not necessary for any of those connections as long as the surfaces are TRUE and flat. None of the STAR kits come with gaskets for those connections, and most of the time they don't leak.
