23886, How long do you guys cool down before you shut her off?!?!?

1. Normal city driving??
2. Normal highway driving??
3. A few boosted runs??
4. Racing on the interstate???
5. track day???

Just wondering how long you guys sit there. Also; say you did a few boosted runs and you have to get gas, do you guys cool down; or just shut her off cuz in a few minutes you'll start her again anyway. Shit me, when I pull on the garage, I cool her down for 3 minutes with hood open and a portable fan blowing away at the engine bay. Also, if situation permits, everytime I cool down, I tend to open the hood to let some of that heat escape. Call me crazy....but hey.......

i dunno man, im not turbo yet, but when i am in a month or so im sure ill rock it just like you do. just cause its more hardcore. roll up to places and pop my hood up in public and shit, of course to take care of my car but think about it, it also makes you badass because your car is just that damn hardcore. :-) hell i think i even did that at a friends house one evening. was hella racing on the way there, rolled up, popped the hook up, and went in side. we came out and it was up and he was like, what are you doin that for. i said "so it can have a chance to cool down a little bit before i hop in and drive some more tonight." whatever, im young and im not rich yet, gotta rock the cheap thrills.
23888, I let her rest...

This is how I've been turbo timing my car:

Normal city/highway driving, 1-2 minutes should be sufficient time to allow the hot oil to leave the turbo.

A few boosted runs, about 2 minutes should be fine.

Race day or after a few races (long pulls), 3 minutes should be enough. And pop the hood to allow the heat to dissipate quicker.

30 sec to 1 min, no matter how i drive it.. I usually wait till i see my egt's drop to like 900, which usually takes that long..

I let my auto timer count for me. usually 1-1.30 min. dosn't really go up higher than that. I got a ? though. I've done this 2 times, I cut my car off before i pull the e-brake so it just cuts off. When this happens I turn it right back on instantly. Is this the right thing to do? cut it back on and then time it down? or should i follow another process if this happens again.

run coolant lines through the turbo like i did and you can cool down for a shorter amount of time.

Until i am done smoking a cigarette.

I don't smoke in my car (or try not to, and only on the freeway with the windows down when i do) so it's a perfect opportunity for me to let it idle down.

hey james...where did you get the info on how to water cool your turbo also, b/c although i know the hrc turbo has water inlets, i haven't found anyone(even hrc themselves) who can tell me how to hook it up. just curious :)

what i did is i removed the hose from the heater core return line and cut the hardline shorter. Then I put some AN fittings on it and hooked those up to some steel braided hose and ran it to the turbo and then another steel braided hose runs from the turbo to the other side of the heater line into the water pump/ lower radiator line. that's about it, i had to do some research on what parts i needed, but all the fittings are XRP fittings and they had everything i needed. you can see the 2 hoses in my picture the 2 red things with silver heat wrap around them
