Just finished the install of the HRC stage 1 kit(used btw), and it runs excellent, except for that the boosted fuel pressure goes up to 130+ psi at 5 pounds boost. We adjusted the FPR's brass screw almost all the way out, and it didn't really help. Everything is connected perfeclty, no vacumm/boost leaks, and there was gas coming out the fuel return line at the tank when the car was running. We tried both the recomended fuel pressure adjustment on the FPR, but that was still not right..Check valve also works perfectly..FCD is wired properly and working too..Anyone have any clues? I personally thing the FPR is not working properly..and i need the new billet one from HRC..Anyone have any ideas?? Gonna call HRC tomorrow..

I believe the HRC manual stated to put the 'boost screw' all the way in first, then turn it 2 turns out. This will be a good starting point. It's all a matter of trial and error. Good Luck.

yeah, i did turn it in all the way, then backed it out the recomended turns in the HRC manual. Still didn't help...I know that the S-FMU is the shit, but this kit *should* work properly with the crappy cartach FPR..so we will see what the prob is..and also when the pressure is up that high under boost, there really isn't any black smoke out the tail pipe, which i thought was odd..you would think running that much pressure there would be lots of black smoke...hmm....egt's are fine, and A/f is about one to two green led's from the full rich mark..

Well, better to run RICH than to run LEAN. I'm not sure about the conversion factor of your A\F LED's, but mine pegs to like yellow-red. Which is like around .96-.98, still a bit rich, but hey, better than running lean.

yeah, def better rich than lean...but my biggest worry is the fuel lines, and fittings..not sure how much psi they can take before they could pop off or rupture...DON'T want that to happen..

I've ran into the same problem in the past with the Cartech. You set it once (the very first time once it's new) and then you can never re-set it with any type of accuracy again. I'm afraid its due to the poor parts that came with the Cartech FPR. If you open it up, it has this rubber diaphram that's primarily responsible for adjustment and the fuel pressure control. Well, it's rubber, and seems to either wear out or have permanent indentations from prolonged use and loses its ability to adjust.

The unit just has some problems.

If you notice the diaphram of the Vortech unit, it's made of a different, probably more durable synthetic material. It seems much less likely to wear out or have permanent indentations.

I have same problem. I NEVER once got the older FPR to not go over 120psi. I blew my o2 sensor out just by testing and retesting the fuel pressure. I finally got the new billet FPR and it didnt fix a damn thing. I was running 9psi and I couldnt keep fuel pressure under 130psi. I blew my engine when I was racing a supercharged cobra (put boost at 15, I sure as hell was getting enough fuel for it). I won $500 and am now doing the 8 injecter setup. I will send the billet FPR back soon. Used for like 2days with only like 7 hours of actually driving.
