Does anyone have a set of JE's waiting to go in? I need to know something about the orientation. Under the piston, there is a JE logo cast off center of the wrist pin. What side is the logo on, intake or exhaust? I either have one piston in backwards or 3 in backwards. Since I'm only doing crank work, I really don't want to pull the head to find out which is which. Can anyone help???

i called JE directly and talked to an engineer there, he informed me that ALL their pistons are forged with the JE logo facing the exhaust side. He told me to remember that the "E" in JE stands for Exhaust! okay

I just thought of a possible explanation for your pistons being on backwards, jamesman-

Maybe they thought you had a Neon 420a? In which case the exhaust would be on the other side...

The funny thing about JE pistons (at least the 8.8:1 compression) is that they have NO OFFSET - even measured on a micrometer, there is no offset. it threw my machinist for a loop that the wrist pin was centered - his daily fare of high-rev no-stroke motorcycle engines had taught him otherwise. After he brought out the precise measuring tools, he foung that the 8.8:1 pistons are PERFECTLY SYMERTRICAL; there is no variation from one half to the other. He couldn't figure out how to face the pistons until the vendor told us that he faces the "JE" emblem on the underside to the exhaust side of the motor even though the 8.8:1 pistons are perfectly symetrical as far as we could tell - the vendor told us he does it just to be thourough about it. Other compressions may be different, but as far as i am concerned (and as far as the machines told us) the 8.8:1 compression pistons are symetrical enough that it makes no difference how you install them.

my wiseco pistons are symetrical enough that it makes no difference how you install them also.

I have to look at the drawing for the top of my 9.5:1's to see if they are the same up there. I will spin around #2 anyway, just for the peace of mind. Thanks for the info guys!

i see you have those TCE wilwood brakes, how you like them are they worth the money. I have 17" gsx wheels and was thinking about getting the 12" kit possibly with 6 pot calipers becaus they are only like 2 bills more, but overall how do you like those 4 pot brakes? do they stop way better, or just marginally better?

looks good Dan, did you find ut what happened to the stock pistons? remember when you are rebuilding the engine to place the je logo towards the exhaust side.
