OK so I have an intank walbro and HRC's inline fuel pump..

It's damn loud...I hear this hummmm now instead of a high pitch whine (when I just had the walbro).

It's driving me nuts...what's worst, I hear my fuel tank 'gurgle.' Is this normal cause of the hiflow?

Would it lower the sound if I cover under my rear seats with sound deadoning material?

Some suggestions...

Make sure you have done the fuel pump rewire, my fuel pump changes pitch when I turn my headlights on...( I have a Walbro/Holley 255 High Pressure).

Try Dynamating under your back seat.

Try wrapping the fuel lines coming out of the back seat and going under the car with some cloth..or sponge, just make sure that it doesn't make static electricity ;-)

I dunno if this works, but try mounting the external fuel pump to the chassis of the car with a rubber O-ring between the pump holder and the chassis.

Get a LOUDER stereo!

I have both because I'm paranoid that I wouldn't have enough fuel flow at high fuel pressures.

One pump would be fine if I had larger injcetors...but which I don't, so this will have to suffice for now.

I think a lot of miscalculations and misconceptions were present before this post. I admit I was misled and thought wrongly as well (...and probably gave out some bad advice as well).

Bottom line.... any single fuel pump combined with stock injectors will probably not handle your fuel needs above 5 psi or so. Anything above 90psi's of fuel pressure with stock injectors, and you'll start losing injector efficiency and volume.

The reason's pretty obvious after reading this post as to why HRC chose to go with an in-line as opposed to merely a in-tank replacement.

Oh and Leon,

My HRC fuel pump was more loud before I rechecked all my fuel lines and MADE SURE there weren't any kinks or sharp bends in the fuel lines. So give em a look. If your Fuel pump doesn't have a free flow supply of fuel, it will get loud. I had a kink and got rid of it, it helped both my fuel pressure and the noise.

Also, did you recieve the rubber brackets that came with the HRC in-line fuel pump? (That might help...)

I couldn't use the provided mounting hardware cause my Talon is an early model 1995. For some reason, some hard lines run along the chasis and is in the way of where to bracket is supposed to mount. Plus there isn't enough clearance to even orient the bracket there! ARGH

I just ended up hose clamping the pump to an aluminum bar bolted to the chasis.

I don't think I have any kinks in my hose between the pumps...The only thing I don't like (and may be a problem) is the hose has a small radius bend in it (~1" radius).

Could that be the problem? I don't think the hose in between the two pumps would affect the in-line's performance?

It's hard to say without seeing the small hose turn myself. I know that I have a lot of fuel hose traffic in the small alcove crevice area right in front of the fuel tank (where my fuel filter sits). I went through there after I installed my in-line and sort of straightened things out to some degree. I know there is some situations still though that have small radius bends as well. The thing I relly looked for though was to eliminate and bends in the fuel lines. So long as the lines were not kinked, I was happy. I made sure the lines maintained their full hose capacity throughout.

Also, are you at least using the fuel pump clamps that are lined with rubber? I really recommend those. They're pretty nice.

YEah...those clamps are good...but there's no way I can use them at all! :(

ARGGHH...guess I'll have to suffer until I get larger injectors! That or if I go crazy from the noise..... :(

Then take out the intake, go back to the stock intank, and use just the HRC provided inline. Having both is overkill anyway. That should reduce some of the noice. Oh, and of course, as Guy said, get a louder stereo.
