23066, Manifold gasket keeps leaking Posted by BLACKWIDOWDSM, May-25-02 06:01 AM I am having hella problems with my HRC manifold leaking... I am usinf SCE copper manifold gaskets...I have taken the turbo of aorund 3-4 times just to try and retighten theses bolts...i finally used that copper gasket spray....after heating up it started leaking agian....is there a better gasket becasue this one sux! i have has to trim it numerous time because it hits against the block....I noticed someone had a gasket on there sig that was pretty nice looking...itwas trimmed and not just a piece of copper like the SCE....someone help bacuase i know htis isnt good for tha car..and ohh yea where can i get some new bolts....these allen heads scare the hell out of me...i have already stripped 1 .... | |

23068, RE: Manifold gasket keeps leaking Posted by JUNJUN712, May-25-02 06:20 AM I have a star stage II, mine use to leak too. I use my stock manifold gaskit. I figured it out why it leaks on me. I used to put everything together at the same time, like I put the manifold, the turbo and the downpipe and after that tighten the bolts. That's why it was leaking, the weight of the turbo and the downpipe is pulling the manifold down to leak. What I did is I tighten the manifold before everything! That stops the leak. I could boost up to 7 psi without leaking at all. | |

23070, RE: Manifold gasket keeps leaking Posted by BLACKWIDOWDSM, May-25-02 08:50 AM heh...i picked up a bag in my room from about a year ago while I was trying to fix up a 90 laser...ans WALAH! 7 perfectly new RRE studs with copper screws.... I put them on and no leak yet! hopefully this works....I also trimmed up my SCE gasket | |
