22922, Dnyo Results Posted by Skillionaire, May-23-02 03:45 AM
Hey everyone. I Just had my car Dynoed last night for the first time. I have a 96 Auto Tranny GS with a Star Stage II kit, Greddy SP exhaust, magnacores and NGKs. Keep in mind that it is an A/T and I have 18s (dont know if that makes a difference on a Dyno or not) So, now for the result
@ 7psi --- 168.9hp 153ft/lbs torque
Overall i was pretty happy with the results. The car pulls so much harder now, even from 4psi.

good stuff... what do you estimate its making at the crank?
|
22924, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by Skillionaire, May-23-02 03:58 AM
I suppose if there was a 20% loss, id be around 194hp...now to get this auto tranny outta the way :D

nice numbers man:-)

22926, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by RoboTechDSM, May-23-02 05:07 AM
Hey Alex, those are fairly impressive numbers man. If you get maybe a testpipe and AFX UDP, you can squeeze out even more numbers. I'd keep that boost hitting no higher than 6 psi man, for longevity purposes. I wonder how much mine will put out at 4 psi with no IC. Charger71 did a dyno run on his with the AFX UDP, no IC, stock exhaust, and 4.5 psi, I think he put down like 158 horses. Keep in mind that he too has an AT and HRC Stage 1. He lives up north where it is colder, lucky him!!!! Again, nice numbers......YOU ARE SUPER!!!!! :thumbsup

22927, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by mkerley, May-23-02 06:04 AM
WIth a 20% loss throught the drive train, you'd be at 211hp, not 194.
X * (1-.20) = 168.9
X = 211.125
Not bad for auto @ 7psi w/18's.
Good job!!

One more thing Alex, @ 7psi --- 168.9hp 153ft/lbs torque at what RPM???? Now, what to do with that heavy ass sound system..........

22929, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by RyaN95i4, May-23-02 06:31 AM
not bad at all... your making me wonder what im running :)
ive been estimating ~180 whp...seems like a pretty good estimate compared to your mods
good stuff man, keep it up

That's bad ass, I can not wait to get mine on the Dyno. Scan in the dyno printout if you got one I would love to see the power curve.

22931, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by rfpunch, May-23-02 09:34 AM
nice numbers man. has anyone dyno'd a stage 2 hrc car with a manual xmission? or can anyone estimate the power i should be making with a stage 2, test pipe, and manual trans. wondering what i should be making at about 6-7 psi and 9 psi. thanks

Hold up , I am a auto also and i paid a shit load of money for my star stage 1 and a shit load of money to get it installed with the new exhaust and all I can expect to get it like 25 hp ? Wtf I was better off getting cam gears and a udp and saved my damn money.

i think the hp will always differ from car to car. Mine was nice and high when i did mine :-) back in september, before she blew :-(

just wait till my next one with the monster setup i have now }>

22934, RE: wtf Posted by rfpunch, May-23-02 10:32 AM
remy , you have to remember that those numbers are measured at the WHEELS. if you have an auto, you car stock probably had anywhere from 100-120 at the wheels. and dyno numbers can vary a lot depending on conditions .so dont get mad!
edit: sorry for my addition earlier. copy and paste sucks sometime s

wonder how I put down 186 HP at 8 1/2psi and 197 HP at 10 1/2 psi and loosing compression in 2 cylinders.. Weird.. guess my #'s shouldn't of been that high. When blowing my motor. Wonder what I can get w/ all FOUR cylinders. hahaha -Dave

22937, RE: wtf Posted by mitseclps, May-23-02 01:34 PM
i dont' know if anyone reply'd to my last post about my crappy dyno, but mine was done w/ my map sensor AND o2 sensor dead. the CEL was on and the car was in "limp" mode and i couldn't run any more than 3psi without hitting fuel cut b/c of a lack of a vc1/2. my question is could the map/o2 both being dead be the reason for my car doing 35hp less at the wheels than when it was first dyno'd under perfect conditions? the only mod i've done since then is add an apexi n1 turbo exhaust, it's 3" all the way back. the only thing i can think of is that the exhaust is good for high boost, but at 3psi it actually hurts me, and the map/o2 just compounded the situation. ??? any ideas?
basically i got 140hp at 3psi under those conditions but in the very beginning i suposedly got 175hp/165tq @ 3psi. i've got the dyno charts and everything, but i'm starting to doubt it. the only trustworthy guy at the shop has left and i'm never going back, but i was there for the first dyno and i don't THINK they tampered w/ anything. during the first dyno i didnt' have a controller on my car and the wastegate has always gone off at 3psi so i'm assuming thats all they could run it at. i guess my question is are the tial wastegates adjustable? i don't see an adjustment anywhere on it like the deltagates have, but i've never seen a 3# spring advertised anywhere either. i'm 99%sure they didn't hook up a boost controller during the dyno, would there have been any other way to turn up the boost and then turn it back down to 3psi like that?

One thing I must say is that hearing my car up on the dyno for the first time has got to be the scariest shit i have dealt with in a long time. I was positive my car was just gonna explode. I just sat there thinkin "Please god, dont let it blow up" Im not used to hearin my baby make that much noise :D

arent stage 2 peeps with exhaust supposed to make 230-250ish hp? that would verify hrc's claim of 1.3 seconds faster than a stock GST.

stage 2 is 230+ at the crank.
our auto's eat up about 22-25% before it gets to the wheels tho. the manuals are closer to just a 15% +/- , plus the better gearing

Im definitely planning on doing the tranny swap also. I figure ill build up the turbo aspect of it first (Rebuild, S-AFC, Ignition and whatever else i might need). Hopefully by then, ill be finished with my 19 month Auto Tech classes and i can do the tranny swap myself.

Its a 19 month course at Erwin Tech College. Its broken into 8 sections including. Air conditioning, Engine performance, Auto and Manual Trannies, Electrical systems, and a few others. You get ASE certified and they have 98% job placement. Ill be going M-F from 8-2, with 2 hours spent in the classroom and the rest of time is spent in the shop working on customers cars.

22950, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by 99Eclipse, May-25-02 02:42 PM
You all need to lay off our autos, our autos rock get off your lazy asses and mod them and see what they can really do as far as being under 200 HP on that dyno that is shit. Call me cocky call me a fool w/e im just gonna get straight to the point.
|
22951, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by 99Eclipse, May-25-02 02:47 PM
Well the 18s could have held you back and the unmoded tranny sorry for the previous post but anything under 300 HP just makes me sad sorry bro good luck with your setup.
BTW, I pushed over 300 HP to the wheels all n2o on 19s before I blew my motor and I had a system but that was with a built motor and a 300 DP shot, as you can see im waiting ever so patiently for my turbo.

22952, RE: Dnyo Results Posted by Fast420A, May-25-02 04:43 PM
You never did show any proof of that 300 HP shot did you?

"stage 2 is 230+ at the crank."
hey i thought hrc measured everything at the wheels? I thought I had read a post where HRC backed their shit up after a debate over this very thing...

>You never did show any proof of that 300 HP shot did you?
I told you already im working on a website and a friend of mine who is a network admisitrator is helping me out with it since im not the greatest with computers. There will be dyno slips, time slips, and video of me with some very detailed walkthroughs on useing n2o with our motors and some tricks that I have learned to not only run huge shots but to do so efficently, im also coming out with my own progressive controler so don't bust my balls here, im a really busy guy.
