What are the symptoms of a FCD gone bad??? Is there any way to test it out???

Put a volt meter on it (with long leads or tape it to the windshield) and have someone watch it while you make boost. If it goes over 4.99v, something isn't working.

Yes, a mulitmeter will indicate whether you FCD is working correctly or not. If you have a SAFC, that will also have a sensor check screen that can discern whether or not it's correctly clamping.


You'll want to check the MAP numbers under boost. (more than 0 psi)

And the MAP number should never go above 4.7x volts. It ranges from 1.xx - 4.99. The FCD clamps voltage theoretically at 4.7 volts.

Hmmm, well, I know I had it on there for a long time, then armond said take it off its not needed, or that was said at the time a while back, I removed it and noticed exactly nothing... I am gonna keep it off for now and when I dyno tune, I will solder it back on for a run or 2 and see...

If you have an Accel DFI, technically, you shouldn't need to have the FCD hooked up since the oem ecu doesn't control the injectors anymore. Therefore, theoretically, it shouldn't affect performance with the FCD installed or not. I have just disconnected my HRC FCD tonight. I'll let you guys know if it will do anything. I'm hoping that it'll do nothing, or possibly improve my oem MAP voltage reading, since there's a tiny bit less of current draw.

where can you read this on the AFC?

Go to the "Chk Snsr." screen. It should be one of the inputs with numbers ranging from 1.xx - 4.99. It's the only one of three inputs with that sort of range.
