After about 5 long pulls (racing on the freeway), I noticed about two shot glasses of oil in my catch can--is this normal? How much oil do you guys see, typically, for every day street/freeway driving in a week? Just curious.

that is normal. I autocross and after 3 runs I have 1/3 cup of oil in my catch can(I empty it during half time). It then soaks the filter with oil and spits on everything within 8 inches. I am using both valve cover outlets in the RRE catch can. I am going to have to rethink my setup or make a splash guard(screen) inside the catch can.

You are fine dude. BTW: I am pulling at least 1.0 G's under 10 psi boost.

Yep autoxing will make your car spew out about 3/4 quart or oil. Or if your running it really hard. I heard it might be better to not fill it up all the way before a race.

If you still have your PCV valve connected to your valve cover, get rid of it. Just use a silicone hose from the valve cover to the catch can. It has two inlets in the can. This helps vent much more pressure and will cut down on SOME of the excess oil.

By removing the PCV, will that hurt/effect anything else?

Nope. It might even help. No boost leakage at the pcv, no oil in your intake manifold from crank case, alternate vacum source.....great for using on your BOV. Mine reacted much quicker when I let off the throttle. I believe it is your best vacum source. It also has a large fitting so you can use 6mm silicone hose.

If you do not intend to use the fitting, just use one of your black silicone caps that come with the RRE catch can. Make sure you use a zip tie to secure it or it will shoot across your engine bay when you see boost...LOL

Keep an eye on the oil consumption though. Being that you JUST rebuilt the motor, I would watch it closely. I made 10 passes at the drag strip in one afternoon and had not one drop of oil in my catch can FWIW.

You got a point there, too, Greg. With a freshly rebuilt engine, I wonder if it should pass that much oil. I think it's time for another compression test.

So you all have a hose running from the valvecover to the catch can where the pcv valve hose used to go. And you have a hose from the drivers side of valve cover to the catch can as well... This gives you another vac source on the manifold, but what does this effect exactly? What was the point of the pcv and running to the intake manifold from the manufactures standpoint?

whats it doing by getting rid of the pcv and rerouting it to the catch can? I know it will stop oil from getting into the intake manifold from a bad pcv valve, but does the valvecover need a vac line to it or what?
