is it ever necessary to clean the inside of our hahn fmic? and if so how do we do it, because it is a pain in the ass to take off.

You shouldn't have to clean the fmic very often, unless you know oil has gotten in there, or if you run the breather filter line back to the intake pipe. But, if you have to clean it, a lot of people use gasoline. Just pour it in there and just shake the i/c around a bit. Just be careful where you do this. Or, you could use paint thinner. It should work just as well, and not as flammable as gasoline.

I just had to do a big cleaning of my FMIC there was about 1/2 quart of oil in it. I used B-12, just spray it in the IC shake it up and let it drain. Do this until the B-12 comes out clear. Plus the B-12 dries from the air very quicky. It worked great for me and now I have a catchcan so that should solve that problem.

those spark plug wires are NOLOGY wires, they just have a thermo-tec heat shielding on them.

James, arent you runnign a catch can? How else would oil get into the FMIC...unless blown turbo oil seal.

I would just run gasoline through it, then mild compressed air to blow it out. top to bottom of course.

i don't have any oil in it, i was just wondering what people do to clean it out.

i made the heat shield. it is made of highly polished 6061-T6 aluminum with 3 layers of thermo-tec insulation riveted to the inside. it looks good and works good!

You will need to remove the ic to clean it good. I used acetone. It comes in a gallon from any local auto parts store. I dumped the whole thing in my ic and then drained it. The acetone (kinda like nail polish remover) Then dries quickly, reassemble and your done. late mike

James, I bet you could make some $$$ if you made some of those heat shields up and sold them on here... cause we're all too damn lazy to fabricate our own.. I have made some in the past but yours looks better and I didnt have heat padding on it. but on the ic thing do as they say if you ever have to do it. I used paint thinner, gas, degreaser, etc... did it a bunch of times, plugged up one side, filled it full, let it sit for awhile, swish it around, emty it out, do a few more times, and clean as a whistle.

James, I encourage you to try going into production on the heat shield. I think you could get more then a few buyers since we all know how easily the turbo manifold turns brown on HRC's turbo (no offense hrc, it's the truth!).

Whenever you have some free time, you should post up a group buy and have a target number of people. I bet your order could be filled really quickly.

I'd definately be one of the first to invest in one. =)

have your manifold ceramic coated, I had mine done when I got it, and it has taken quite a bit of abuse and still no rusty.
