connect the vacuum hose to the gauge and T it into some vacuum line that hooked up to the intake manifold. I had mine tapped into the compressor vacuum hose but it only read how much boost that was getting produced by the turbo and not the intake manifold boost pressure and vacuum.
EGT gauge you tap the manifold on the 4th running. Drill a hole that smaller than what your gonna tap, then increase it slowly. Do this while the car is on. Then get correct size tap (mine was like a 1/8 pipe thread or something) and slowly tap the manfold the. THen screw the probe in there then connect the lines and match the colors on the wires to the gauge. I ran the wire in between the battery straight to the steering boot. I advise you NOT to do this. Instead route it to the driver side around the battery and around the washer resevoir then put it through the steering boot. Cuz I melted the insulation on my probe line on the EGR tube and it was giving me crazy readings when the engine got hot.
The reset is simple electronics stuff. Solder/tap (I always solder ^_^) the light to some wire that turns on when you turn the headlights on like the cigarette lighter light or the change tray light. Then connect the EGT guague light bulb wire to some kind of wire that turns on when the car turns on like the cigarette lighter accesory wire. I believe it is a blue wire. There is another of these blue wires in the ignition switch also. I've connected it to both of them and they work fine. Haha I connected it to everything I could find when the gauge was tripping on me.

is it alright to tap into the hrc turbo manifold? I've heard of it cracking. How much of a difference would it make if I welded it into the hrc downpipe?

yeah I've seen some HRC guys do it, they do it on the side or the top. But I don't know for sure. Look at a couple posts and you'll see where they put the probe.
If you place it on the downpipe you'll get different reading they'll be much colder so you have to convert what safe temperatures are on you gauge. It won't be as accurate. Haha if it cracks just put some JB weld on it :P

my probe is on top of my fourth runner on teh HRC manifold...no cracks here. but yeah, dont put it in the downpipe, it kinda defeats the purpose because you can convert 1600 degrees in the manifold to 1400 in the pipe all day long, but the fact is it ist always a static conversion. so you could read 1400 in the pipe and that could reasonably be anywhere from 1575-1650 in the manifold i think.
