20813, Anyone use the HRC Clutches?
Posted by pocotheeskimo, Apr-28-02 03:18 PM
Hello,
Are the HRC clutches a name brand or are they custom made by HRC? Also, does anyone own one and know how they feel/perform (the Stage 4 Clutch in particular)? I'm just wondering as I'm going to be looking for a new one soon. Thanks

Gary

I believe that the Hahn clutches are clutchmasters Stage 3 and 4 but I am not 100% sure.

HRC uses Clutchmasters. I am very happy with my Stage IV after going through several different brands. Be aware that it holds by being very grabby rather than being heavy so slipping it will not be as easy as it is more like an on/off switch. I make it around fine though and have become very used to it.

I second murix's comments on the on/off swithc, thats what its like, its crazy grabby, is it just me, or does it feel like its pretty violent on the tranny? i never seemed to notice my tranny shifting before, but now i do, like in a hard decel, jumping back and forth, or opening the throttle up, i can feel the tranny moving, and verified this by feeling the shifter linkage bouncing a little as well.. i checked all the motor mounts, all solid as it gets, is this clutch just wild like that or what?

So overall everyone who's using them is happy?

I am happy w/ it. It takes a little bit of getting us to though.

one of the guys in my car club has it on his GS, pedal feel is hella lighter than stock which I feel makes it even more difficult to modulate. I agree with them about it being like an on/off switch. You will get used to it though

Brad,

I can confirm the same charecteristics with mine including feeling the movement in the shifter when I accelerate. It seems it just gets a grip on the tranny and will not let go. NO slipping whatsoever. That is what makes it feel violent. It motivates you to speed shift for really which I do not mind. :)

clutchmaster is the only clutch on the planet for me...nothing beats them.

My Stage 3 Clutchmasters clutch is also very similar to what you guys are saying about on/off switch. It's an instant grab and never slips.

thanks for the reply murix, i was thinking i shouldnt drive the car till i figured it out, spent hrs looking everything over, retorquing stuff, same violent grab, so i guess its normal, hehe, I am impressed with it as long as it doesnt rip the tranny out, hehe, i can see now how axle breakage can occur.
