97's have the returnless fuel system, the FMU mounts back around the right-rear tire, where the fuel filter is.

cant you mount it in the engine bay, and run a longer return line instead of routing 10 feet of vacuum hose??? wont the vacuum signal start to degrade over such a long distance?

Yep, you can mount it in the engine bay; which I think is the smarter thing to do.

What would be involved in moving it to the engine bay? would this not affect anything in a bad way? thanks.
