20477, Confused with Hahn Stage 2 and what it comes with
Posted by nappyjim, Apr-25-02 12:09 AM
Ok, im getting real consfused now. On HRC website, the Stage 2 turbo costs $3000. Does the include the front mount intercooler with the price. If so, is it the good one, or a diff. one. Because I hear people saying, "I like Hahn's intercooler but I dont have an extra 1000 to spend on it."

Also, on Hahn's price list, they have 2 front intercoolers. One for 400 and one for 1000. So that gets me even more confused as to which one, if any, come with the stage 2.

Can someone who has bought stage 2 from Hahn please clear this up for me as to exactly what you got. Thank you very much.

stage 2 comes with a side mount intercooler, its the sleeper look, the extra 1000 bucks is for a front mount intercooler, the side one mounts behind the drivers side foglight

So why is there a 1000 price hike from stage 1 to stage 2 when you are still getting the same turbo. I thought the hole point of stage 2 was the front mount IC so u can boost higher than 5 psi.

well I dont know why the difference in price is so hight, but stage 2 comes with the side mount intercooler (the FMIC is a $400 option) and all the necessary piping. I dont think the monetary difference is as great as 1000 though is it??

Yes, there is about a 1000 diff between stage I and stage II.

With stage you, you get a diff. wastegate spring, the piping and the I/C. HRC wants like 2295 for stage I, and 3195 for stage II with sidemount. The FMIC costs even more.

With an I/C you can run more boost, thats the difference in stages. Staeg I you run 5 psi safely, and stage II with the IC you can run 8.

Thats the only real difference between stage I and 2 is the IC.

So it seems to me you buy a stage 1, buy the better waste gate spring, and the fmic, and spend less than you would for a stage 2 with the fmic. Correct?

Buy a Stage 1 get a boost controler, FMIC, fab your own piping, and a few other small things. It's been done before.

if I remember correcly, both Jamesman and Pnoymahal both spend an additional 400$ adding the FMIC option at the time of ordering from Hahn for a stage 2. It can only be done at the time of ordering.

Personally I love the look of the Hahn FMIC as that sucker is massive and thick (hahahahaha). I once felt the UPIC on a 420a after a hard drive in warm weather and the pipe was ice cold. Very efficient core if you as me.

However you'll be required to trim off alot of your front bumper support to fit it in there.

Choice is yours. I went with a side mount for the ease of installation, as well as sleeper look.

You can achieve stage 2 boost pressure with a MBC on 5 psi wastegate spring.

I've been there reviewing the prices several times, and this is what I see the prices as:

Stage 1: $2295 w/o intercooler

Stage 2: $3049 same kit as Stage 1, but includes SMIC (side mounted intercooler), and piping

Stage 2 w/FMIC: $400 additional price (this price only pertains to stage 2)

The extra $1000 is for people that dont get it with the turbo kit as an upgraded intercooler. I got mine for $300 with the stageII turbo kit.

i think what someone is confused about is the price from stage II from stage I. the price for stage II with a side mount IC is like 3k. and 400 more for a FMIC. which means you couldnt buy a FMIC for 400, i guess they subtract out the price of the side mount and add the FMIC. and this is of course if you outright buy a stage II. if you are upgrading from a stage one you dont have to pay 3k+. you already have most of the parts because they came from stage I. the upgrade from stage I to II is, i believe 850 and i am assuming 400 more for a FMIC. hope this clears up someones confusion, if not maybe im confused with your confusion =P.
