OK, i had pretty much decided i want to go turbo instead of NOS. i email wyatt to ask about a star purchase and some questions, so then i come here and read some of the posts on turbos and their problems, and damn, this is really scaring me. blown motors, and all the little problems you have to diagnose are pretty discouraging. so my question is this...say i want to go ahead and buy the stage two star. it comes with everthing necessary to run low-psi (10 or less) boost for as long as i want without upgrading anything right? so if i decide to stay at 10psi or less i can do that with everything that comes with the stage 2? if i decide later on to turn up the boost and upgrade injectors, internals, ignition, and all thats another story but i just want to be able to run the "base model" so to speak turbo kit. is there anything at all that i will need (or that is strongly recommended) that doesnt not come with the star stage 2. S-AFC, turbo timers, boost controller (that may be a dangerous temptation dont you think?), injectors, upgraded wastegate?
and lastly, when imention upgraded wastegate, what exactly is the advantage of say, a deltamark wastegate, or any other brand of more expensive wastegate over the one that comes with the star kit? keep in mind i am completely uneducated about turbos and their use so try not to make me look stupid in your replies...i already know i am

Actualy Cyan, your questions are not even close to being stupid.
Your car can and will run finr with no other upgrades than the turbo kit brings. However of your car is not tuned proporly or the kit is installed inproporly then the chance of you blowing your motor ar somthing else is a possibility. If you look at the blown motors around here now and in the past, you will see large part of them was due to user error. :), so dont let that go unseen, and be careful but not scared of turboing your car. It feels great!!!!!!!!!!

well tuning is one thing i was thinking about...what exactly is there to tune with the kit? its all set at one level. regulating boost, fuel pressure. i would stay at no more than 10psi, so what else is there for me to tune? id like to know because there is really no place around here that can tune this car for me other than satan and i dont want to pay their prices for labor. or were you just referring to general tuning (plugs,wires,oil changes) just like i would be doing with my car N/A?
also i wanted to do the install myself. ive heard the star install is harder than the HRC, so what are the difficult parts of the Star install? fuel pump? manifold&turbo? i know i can install the I/C myself so thats not a problem and ive noticed there really isnt that much to a turbo kit, i can install the boost gauge im sure, just like all my other gauges, so what else?tthanks

I have to agree with MWC. I think most problems were caused by - poor install/user error/lack of understanding/car had problems before that were aggravated by boost. I feel I fell into these problems when my engine went. Get rid of these, know what you are getting into, and you should do fine. I think it has been decided on that to be really safe, a Stage II HRC/Star running 7-8psi will last just fine and will run hard on the street and turn it up to 10psi for the track. some will run more, some less, but I think this is a safe range.
