20279, What's the best head gasket?
Posted by HadesOmega, Apr-22-02 12:05 PM
Just wondering but I was checking out that TTI stainless steel headgasket and was wondering if there were any other cheaper head gaskets out there that work as well. I'm planning to do a small rebuild sometime in the near future and was just wondering if there are better options. That TTI head gasket lowers compression by on 1 point also, so if I got like 8.6:1 pistons it'd make it a 7.6:1 and that's too low. Will a stock headgasket hold up to a lot of boost?

OOPS, nevermind, i thought you meant manifold gaskets. Sorry, it's 1 AM in the morning and tired as hell. Ignore the link below.

I've heard good things about these: http://www.ttiracing.com/neonproducts/sohexhuastgasket.htm#

When I do my rebuild Im getting an aftermarket stock compression head gasket. I highly doubt the stock gasket is going to hold the boost I plan on pushing but I dont want to lower compression anymore than 8.6:1

Stock MLS gasket has been run on 30 lbs of boost and survived.

Go to Chrysler. Order the stock MLS (mulit-layer steel) headgasket. Continue rebuild.

Yeah go with the MLS gasket great for the turbo, best all around sealing. And the numbers stated from TTI make me think that their gasket drops C.R. more than 1 C.R.

A very good and economical head gasket is the factory MLS. You could get one from any Mitsubishi dealer for about $80. I believe that it's the same type of head gasket used in the turbo models.
