20277, Vortech SFMU Springs.....

Can someone explain to me what the different springs do that are included in the SFMU kit? I have a long metallic spring and a short dark (stiff) spring. How do the different springs adjust the fuel curve compared to the different size disks? Is there any reason to use the shorter dark colored spring?

The car is running 440cc injectors, a 3:1 disk, and the long spring.

If you want a high idle pressure (55 psi or so) with a high ratio disk, you will likely need the stiff spring. The long weak spring isn't strong enough to get a high idle pressure under those circumstances. A stiffer spring will increase the actual ratio of the disk (more fuel pressure for every pound of boost). They used to offer a 3rd spring which was short and weak. Not very useful, so they discontinued it.

You are probably fine using the long spring with 440s and 3:1.
