Well, I have a leaky turbo. I have oil in the air intake pipe and there is no other way for it to get there. I don't have the tube running from the crank case breather to the k&n like the staged kits come w/, for those of you who are going to say it is blow-by coming down the tube into your air filter.

I just have a pipe w/ a filter on it running to the compressor. The ONLY way I explain the oil in the pipe and in the filter and on the floor is that it is leaking from inside some place. I ordered a rebuild kit from HRC and it should hopefully be here sometime this week. My question is has anyone opened thier turbo up before? How does it come apart and is there anything to lookout for.

Oh, and is there any danger to breaking my turbo w/ the leaky oil if I have to drive it this week until the kit comes?

I have the same prob... my bov was spitting out oil.. need to check my oil return line and make sure it is not backing up through there...

If you think it's the turbo that is leaking, here are the steps you should take:

1. inspect your return system. Look for undersized hoses, kinks, large bends, anything that could impede the gravity drain of oil from your turbo. Make sure your drain hole into the oil pan is the right size for the return system. Make sure there are no bottlenecks, that the lines are free of carbon or debris, and that oil can freely run through it. Correct any problems here, then see if the problem persists.

2. If it still leaks, call HRC. Tell them you have a defective turbo, and see if you can warranty return it. chances are you can, because you may be able to rebuild is yourself, but you don't have the equipement to balance it. Even if you do rebuild it, you'll still have to send it somewhere for the balance job. if you don't balance it, don't expect it to last!
