20094, car wont rev past 4k rpms.... Posted by toykilla, Apr-19-02 09:50 AM
It wont go past 4k when im flooring it whether im actually driving or not. It will go past 4k when i bring it up slowly though. Ive replaced coil, plugs, and tested msd wires. all good there. What can cause the car not to go past 4k rpms? The only thing i can think of is that the timing belt skipped a tooth. im taking that apart now, what else could it be?

wow, this has been happening to a lot of 2gnts lately...it mite be the MAP sensor, but usually (at least w/ me) i couldnt get past 4k no matter what i did. it didn't matter if i floored it or slowly let it climb. so you have a slightly different situation, so it mite not be the MAP, but check it out

I checked the map sensor and the FCD that comes with the HRC kit wasnt getting a good connection. I reattached it and it still didnt work. I took it off and it worked. Then I reattached it and its working now. I have no idea whats going on with this stupid thing. If this starts happening again, ill take it off and if its fixes the problem its going back to HRC.

Happened to me also man. My idle was horrible and sometimes would die and and I couldn't go above 4K. All I did to fix it was get a new battery terminal cause my positive wasn't tight enough on battery. Fixed everything. Good luck -Dave
