i can't remember which side of the exhuast mani to tapfot the probe. i think it was the one closest to the drivers side. is that correct?

isn't it funny how people say to tap number 4 runner when majority of people crack the #2 piston...

I woudl say to tap at the flat spot on the underside of the flange where manifold meet the turbine flange. that way it will give you a better overall picture of what is going on.

Just my personal experience. Plus there is more "meat" there to prevent cracking.

Anyone have any pics of the EGT probe in the manifold?

how common is it for the mani to crack?

I have mine in the runner closest to the driver, about 1.5 to 2" from the block. this is what most of us have done.
the star manifold is made of cast iron, very, very strong. I know of only one of us cracking a manifold.

better make it two. Here is Eric C's old manifold right next to my HRC.

Not sure if you can see it clearly, but once you zoomin on the picture, you can see a fracture on the Star manifold where the external mounts.

please tell me I stuck it in the right place I just installed it last week, I got it working and all but lately the EGTs are really low like around 1300, need to do more freeway driving a hill climbs to see how hot this sucka gets.
