19676, Need a good shop for rebuild!!
Posted by DSMNT96, Apr-13-02 12:03 PM
I need to find a shop that can do a rebuild on my car. I'm going to be buying the howell bottem end kit soon, but I want to take my car to a good shop that is familiar with the 420A. Anyone in the MD, VA, PA area know of a good shop that can do it? I need a good price too. My last resort is Altered Atmosphere here in MD. I know the owner and all but I know he wont be able to give me that good of a price. Thanks

Buying a honda is wrong, trying to mod it is a sin, saying it's fast is a crime.

I live in MD too, don't think there are too many good shops around here. Altered in my opinion is way better than New & Again in Silver Spring. As I see they're about the two known places for this area. But If you had a choice with Altered or New & again, go to altered, cause New & Again fucks your car up. They say they can do it, eventhough they have no clue what they're doing. Like my friend had New & Again install an RPM gauge, the lights worked but the rpm didn't even move an inch.
But if your looking for good shops, this one guy I talked to at metro was talking about inlinepreformace in VA. I never heard of the place but from what I saw what they did to this guys HX/ B18-C swap with a t-4 Turbo, it was amazing. They do a clean job and they know what they're doing.
Thats my .02 cents. I'll post up their # when I find it

I worked with one of the guys that hung out and raced with some of the inline pro guys in Northern Va. from what i've seen, they do good work. I've never had anything done there, but I might be able to find out for you. What's the year of your car, and what exactly do you want to have done?
let me know and i'll give my friend a call... i need to call them anyway to see if one of the other guys i worked with will sell me some fenders cheap :)

Thanks for info... Ill talked to Angel when I see him today or Ill call him. Where in MD do u live? And yes he is keeping his turbo kit. If he is rebuilding he is rebuilding w/ the turbo on it. He was going to get a GSX and so was I but we both realized we aint gonna get to much for our rides and even if we did we would have to fix cars then after buying GSX/TSI we would both be in debt so I guess he is rebuilding. As for me who knows. I woudl luv AWD but I cant sell car in the condition its in so if I got a AWD it would be a 2nd car and a 1st gen just for shits and giggles plus its my car for when my GS decides to suck whcih it likes to do.

Got mine rebuilt at Modern Machine & Parts in Alexandria, VA. They're very cool and down-to-earth and seemed genuinely interested in my build-up. Probably b/c they were used to seeing big block V-8s all the time. Couldn't be happier with the job they did...

Inline Pro is a pretty good shop but they don't do their machine work in-house. Any blocks they need to rebuild or build-up they take (or ship) to machine shops. I say 'ship' b/c I know they've shipped their blocks to RPM NYC in New York before. Bringing it to them would just mean you are adding a middle-man to your build-up. Plus, they are more known as specializing in H&As.

Thanks for the info guys. Ive heard of Inline Performance or whatever their name is. From what I can see is that all they work on is H&As like most of you have said. I definately wouldnt want to take it there. They would probably try to convince me to buy a honduh. Anyways, Ive decided to go with Altered, but tomarrow Im going to check with prices and see if maybe they can give me a deal. Wish me luck guys. Kory, Im sorry man, but Ive decided to stay with the 420A. Some day Ill have a 1st gen GSX/TSI AWD. Thanks for the support bro.
