19653, Does the 420A/2GNT Have 10 second potential?

Hello,
Is it possible? Or is it just so much money it wouldn't be desireable.. Basically we're talking stage VI here? or Maybe stage V with a bigger/better turbo? Just a thought I've been pondering

HRC is running 11.5's on a COMPLETELY stock head. No porting, larger valves, turbo cams, cam gear tuning, valve springs, etc. . . .

Also, HRC is going to be releasing the Super 25G which completely drarfs the Super20G. The Super25G makes it power up top so the stock ECU/Redline would be the biggest "power stopper" at that point. You would need a stand alone system to get the MOST power and you would be looking at 10's or even 9's!!

There are 9 second 420A cars. The potential is there.

there IS always potential... but it costs big $

Buying a honda is wrong, trying to mod it is a sin, saying it's fast is a crime.

Poco and all:

Yes, the 10 second 420A 2GNT should be quite do-able. From what we have seen so far, it may even be quite economical, when compared with other types of cars:

Our Street Neon ran 10.40's @ 140 with a Stage V and 100 HP of N20. The car was a ball on the street and pulled like a turbo BIKE in 4th gear, yet is simple to reproduce:

Stage V Turbosystem (includes pistons and rods, ignition, ACCEL-DFI)
100 HP N20 integrated into Stage V ACCEL-DFI
Stage IV Clutch
Quaife differential
Slicks
Upgraded axles
3" exhaust
Large Weldon pump and regulator, fuel cell, all braided lines of adequate size for 600HP.
Stock cams, valves, head

At this time, the Neon was still a TRUE street car, and weighed about 2400 w/driver. Light, sure, but a 2GNT is only a couple hundred pounds heavier when prepped similarly. Further, the 2GNT is a longer, wider car, with bigger wheelwells to fit larger tires...theoretically, it should 'chassis' better than the Neon.

As many of you know, we 'cloned' the Neon setup described here into our 98 RS. It put down a scorching 508 HP to the wheels, but I never made a clean pass with it at the track, so we have yet to see what was possible there. Would it have run 10's? As we had run 11.50's @ 124 with no N20, I would guess yes, but we have to do it to claim it!

In any case, not to brag here, but I wanted to show that a 10 second RS/GS is more affordable than one might think. And I am not talking throw-away, Hail-Mary, breakage-prone type stuff here: these HRC cars have been brutalized for years on the track AND the street. These drivelines are strong as hell when prepared correctly, and it's not expensive or complex to do so!

Long live 420A!
