19604, about the star down pipe
Posted by Kirby, Apr-11-02 10:53 AM
how close does your dp run to your oil pan? mine is right close to it and i had the exaust rattle fixed but my body pannels are still rattling alot so i was wondering if this could be the culprit? also how can i get it away from the oil pan short of taking it off and bending it
and dino (or others) when you read this do you have any pics of how your dumptube and dp were welded together or of the flex section on the down pipe i'm trying to see how all this stuff went together for you guys so i can explain to the shop

ok not all star downpipes are made the same I'll say that. Mine TOUCHED the oil pan. It pissed me off cuz it started rusting the oil pan and stuff. Well when I had my custom 3inch system welded together by Meineke the dude asked me if I wanted to have the downpipe moved so it didn't touch the oil pan. He's all "hey man your downpipe is touch ing your oil pan want me to fix it?" I'm just uh ok if you can. I didn't see him actually do it and I was watching him work most of the time but I think he heated it up with a torch and bent it. He heated it up on one part and bent it cuz I see this grey spot on the downpipe where he bent it. So if anything a muffler shop can fix it for you. It'll start rusting after a while. Lemme see if I can find some pix here now:

When I just installed it

WHen I got it fixed

As for the flex section I haven't installed it yet O_o too lazy and I don't have money :( It looks pretty big don't know if it'll fit. Now the dump tube I plan on taking the manifold wite the turbo and downpipe still connected to it and I'm going to drive to a muffler shop (no in my car of course) and have them weld that bitch up. It'll be good not to get rid of that stink during hill climbs.

So kirby it looks like a got a turbo kit. All this after you said you got in a car accident last month and couldn't buy my turbo kit anymore cause you had no $. Looks like that aint the case. you shoulda just told me you didn't want it anymore and I woulda understood. Buying my turbo kit was my excuse to get rid of car because of all the problems but now Im stuck w/ the beast. Blast I really wanted a different car.

All the ATAR downpipes are a little goofy. Mine, the O2 sensor pointed right at my AC compressor. Had to relocated it. Another kit i did, it was fine. No problem there.

Here's mine:

Flex sections are for weenies.
