19387, almost 1000 miles after rebuild. Posted by jamesman, Apr-09-02 03:41 AM
okay i almost have 1000 miles on the car after the rebuild. i was wondering when (how many miles) it would be safe to mash on it with full boost? and when can i put synthetics back in?
thanks james

You should run a compression test to see what your current numbers are and maybe even a leak down test if there is somewhere that you can get one done for pretty cheap. As long as your numbers look ok then the rings should have set in correctly and you can crank up the boost and change to the synthetic oil.

I did a compression test last week and i was at 220 across all cylinders when the engine was cold. i haven't done a leak down yet , what do you think the acceptable numbers would be with 10.5 compression. thanks james

I think 220 cold is GREAT. Do a test with it warm and see what the numbers are. They should be higher. Probably close to 250.
